Jaci Burton Interview

Today I am speaking with Jaci Burton. Hello Jaci and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews! It is really great to have you with us today.
Thanks for interviewing me!

Jaci, you have some interesting books coming out. Show Me sounds simply delightful. The cover is awesome. Janine Bartolino and Phillipe “Del” Delacroix are fascinating names, where did you come up with these characters?
It's always hard to say where characters come from. They just appear out of my imagination. Lots of people lurking in there. Heh.

We would love to hear a little about the story, can you enlighten us?
Show Me will release in the fall in an print anthology with Shelley Bradley's Watch Me. The stories are interconnected and the books were so much fun to write. Show Me is about a man who owns a voyeur/exhibitionist club and he meets a woman who's as straightlaced as they come. She thinks her reputation and standing in the community is everything, but she has wild fantasies she's longing to explore. And Del is just the man to help her take that walk on the wild side.

On a second note, the blurb to Riding Temptation really caught my eye, too. I am patiently waiting for it to be released. Why not give us a sneak peak on that story, too.
Riding Temptation is the second book in my Wild Riders series with Berkley Heat. In this one, Jessie, who you will meet in the first book--Riding Wild, travels with Diaz, also one of the Wild Riders, posing undercover to infiltrate a biker gang suspected of selling arms to a survivalist group in Arkansas. Jessie and Diaz were so much fun to write and Diaz is oh so hot and sexy!

From your website you have quite a number of books scheduled to be released that sound intriguing. Where do you find the time to pen these great stories?
I type fast. ;-)

I love your Paradise cook book - it has some great recipes inside. Was this something that you had always wanted to do with some other authors, editors and readers?
We put that together several years ago. On my chat group we were always sharing recipes, so the cookbook just came about because of that and I decided to put it up on my website as a freebie to readers.

Do your characters ever wake you up in the middle of the night and insist you write?
Oh God no. I sleep like the dead at night. Nothing wakes me up. ;-)

While writing, how does the story develop for you? Do you go from start to finish or create scenes as they come to you?
I'm a linear writer. The story unfolds in sequence as I write it. I can never write out of order. It makes me twitch.

Growing up, did you ever keep a journal and write notes about the stories you would love to write?
I always wrote stories growing up. Bits and pieces here and there. Poetry, short stories, early fan fiction, but nothing specific.

Are you an organized person?
*snort*. You should see my desk. On second thought, no you shouldn't. But I have a very organized calendar so I know when things are due.

You are called upon, at a school, to tell those interested in becoming an author, all the ins and outs of good writing skills and getting published. Name three important elements in writing, publishing and promoting that you would give them.
Believe in yourself, treat this like a career and promote the hell out of yourself, because no one else will.

Are there any other websites that your readers can find out what is happening with Jaci Burton besides this one? www.jaciburton.com
That's my main website. I talk a lot of my blog, too at www.jaciburton.com/blog

What do you think is the most fascinating planet?
I'm rather fond of Earth. Don't get to too many of the other planets. Those pesky deadlines, ya know.

For Fun: You know the saying about the chip; no one can eat just one, what is something that you just cannot eat just one?
M&M's. They're evil.

What is your favorite musical instrument?
I love the saxophone. It's sexy.

Jaci, thank you so much for chatting with us today. It has indeed been a pleasure. Good luck to you and your writing.
Thanks for the interview! Great questions!
