Hello
Justus and welcome to FAR. Pull up a chair and let the readers get to know more about
Justus Roux.
It is so good to have you with us today. I checked out your website and love the red rose on the front page. Not to mention your line of interesting books.
To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hello everyone.
I live in the beautiful state of Michigan with my husband and three children. I'm an avid collector of anime and music. Of course I enjoy reading. Plus I enjoy exploring new things.
Would you say that writing erotica is your favorite genre when composing?
Yes it is. There is such freedom in writing in this genre.
Why not tell us something about your latest release?
My latest release is titled "Kiss the Moment" and it's the tenth book in my Master Series. All the books in the Master Series explore love in its many forms and really epitomizes my tagline 'where love and erotica know no boundaries'
Is there anything new in the works that you would like to share with us?
I'm will be releasing another book in my Master series titled "A Master's Love" This book explores the real meaning of what a Master should be. This book is more of a novella and will be released only in ebook form for now.
Would you say your stories come to you easy or is it often hard to come up with just the right characters to begin your book?
My stories come to me pretty easy. My only problem is that I have too many stories competing for my time, lol.
Which book took you the longest to compose?
It would be "My Master" this was the first book in the Master Series and the first book I ever published. It went through rewrite after rewrite until it finally felt right. In contrast the books in my Barbarians of Malka series were the easiest to write.
Do you have to go through many drafts or edits to get the story polished just right?
When I write I just write the first draft without stopping. When that's done I let it set for at least a couple of weeks then I reread the story. I fix any holes in the plot. When that is finished I let my computer read the book back to me. This is by far the most tedious part of making a book, but I catch a lot of errors this way. Then once I have that 'it's done feeling' I send the book out to my proof reader.
What you would classify as the three most essential ingredients of an excellent novel?
Good characters, fast moving believable plot, and romance. Speaking as a reader I want to get lost in a book and if I can't connect with the characters or the plot is moving to slow or is too hard to believe I can't get into the book. Plus, there has to be romance. I want to feel the love between the characters. So, when I write a book I want to create the kind of book that I would love to read.
Your editor decides just when your book is about to go into e-book and print that she/he wants you to immediately change the characters and the storyline and you have one day to get it done. Do you change your manuscript to please your editor or do you stand your ground and insist it be left the way it was originally contracted?
It really depends on what the editor tells me. If there is a legitimate problem with the story then I would change the story. However, if the editor only wanted me to add more sex scenes then I would have to stand my ground.
If you could go anywhere in the world for a romantic getaway for two, for two wonderful weeks, where would you choose to go?
I would have to go to Hawaii. Me and my husband went there on our tenth anniversary and it was so beautiful. I have always wanted to go back.
Is there a secret indulgence that you have that you would like to share with your readers?
Okay this is going to sound clichéd but I love taking a hot bubble bath sipping my favorite wine while I listen to some soft music. I just feel so sexy and feminine when I indulge in that.
Do you have a website other than
www.justusroux.com that you would like to share with your readers?
I have a my space page at http://www.myspace.com/justusroux
A blog at http://justusroux.blogspot.com/
A facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/people/Justus_Roux/617017100
A Bebo page at http://arcanewriter.bebo.com
And of course my ebook store at www.justusrouxebooks.com
Do you have a favorite TV show?
I just love watching America's Next Top Model and shows like that. I also like watching Lost and Heroes, though with these two I usually end up watching them on DVD, because I miss episodes and don't want to screw up the storylines.
Thank you so much for sharing time with us today,
Justus.
It was my pleasure :)
