C.S. LeMone Interview

Today I am speaking with C.S. LeMone. Hello C.S. and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews.

C.S., is that what you would like to be called in this interview, or is there another name you would like for me to use? Congratulations on Exotica Zone. It has been garnishing some rave reviews.
Thanks for this opportunity. My friends call me Shea.

We would love to hear about this exciting thriller, can you enlighten us?
I have renamed Exotica Zone II and restructured the story in a way that allows it to stand on its own even though some of the characters from the previous novel are present. I also place more emphasis on suspense in this novel than on erotica--while focusing more on the romance elements of the story than on developing explicit sex scenes. In short, the main character is a young naïve yet intelligent actress trying to get her start in Hollywood. She gets caught up into a devious plot in which one villain attracts an even bigger villain into the picture. I call it Dark Side of the Glitter.

Shea, do you have any other works in progress you would like to share?
A multi-cultural book publisher has picked up a coming of age story I’ve been shopping for a couple of years. I’m especially happy to report that because it is a semi-autobiographical novel about growing up in a gang-infested North Philadelphia neighborhood.

I read that you love to write, it keeps you busy. Of all the genres that you love to express yourself, if you had to choose only one, which would, you choose?
That’s a decision I could never make. While I enjoy writing all kinds of fiction, from suspense to humor, and poetry, I also write a column of editorial opinions and do book reviews for the Roanoke Times.

What is it about writing that really makes you want to pull the readers into your stories?
I write the type of fiction that I would like to read. The voice of the storyteller depends on the nature of the tale and who is telling it. Foremost, though, I want to entertain. But I have had a few people tell me that some of my sex scenes in the erotica genre could serve in place of reading a sex manual.

Do your characters have a way of pushing your buttons and never letting you go until the story is finished?
They are on my mind day and night and take on a life of their own. Having had a wide variety of jobs and positions as well as a wide array of friends from diverse walks of life, I let my characters dictate more to me than I do to them.

Do you outline your stories or do you just write as you go?
For the most part, I see a beginning and an end. The fun comes filling in the middle.

Would you say you are an organized person?
Living as a single person for the last eight years, I’ve had to learn to be less flighty and more organized.

I notice that you love living in the serenity of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I also noticed your artwork. I love the one on Winter Dawn. Do you use the backdrop of the mountains to create some of your stories?
I use the serenity of my surroundings as a springboard to create. Growing up In Philly and living in many other cities taught me a lot. Now, though, I’ve found a way to tap into a greater source of knowledge that I like to call the collective subconscious.

If you were granted three wishes, what would they be?
To finally get a film deal for one of my novels, scripts or short stories; to maintain good health and live a long and creatively productive life, rich with the love of my friends and family… and to finally meet my muse face-to-face. Wait a second, I think that may be five wishes.

You have been given a two-week vacation to any place in the world for some relaxing, where would be your remote getaway?
The top floor of a four-star hotel in the South Seas, overlooking a pristine beach.

I notice that you love to cook. What is your favorite dish to prepare?
I make a mean lobster bouillabaisse and also roast a duck to kill for.

If you could go back in time, is there anything that you would change? Is there anything in your life that you would carry with you?
I’d carry the memory of all my failings and set a course for writing and directing films. Oh yeah, I’d do some stand up comedy, too.
