Leila Brown Interview

Today we have the pleasure of speaking with Leila Brown. Hello Leila and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews.

Leila, wow, what a website with a hunk, not to mention some mouth-watering erotic romance. Your books are exquisite. Why not tell us about Soundwave’s Surrender? Your readers are eager to learn more about this story.

Soundwave’s Surrender is all about a woman who learns that submitting to her greatest enemy can be the most thrilling thing she’s ever done. She has always been in control. Pane is the first man to steal it away from her.

Of all your works, which do you consider your greatest joy?
That’s a hard question. I love my stories all equally but in different ways. Soundwave’s Surrender was my first foray into BDSM. While A Chance Encounter was my first menage. Both held similar elements but the dynamics of the story were totally different…So uhmm…if you are going to twist my arm and make me choose. I think I am going to have to say…my first release with Cobblestone Press, The Diamond Heartstone. And it only has that distinction because I got the acceptance within 48 hours. (3 days after my birthday!)

Who do you think are your greatest and strongest characters?
Let’s see. I am going to say my strongest female character has got to be Soundwave. If you want to see how strong she is you have to go to www.changelingpress.com and click on their ezine. There is a free prequel to Soundwave’s Surrenderin their ezine. It’s called Soundwave’s Submission and tells about Soundwave and Pane’s first meeting. Totally H-O-T!

My strongest male character is Christopher Pillow. He is the hero in my upcoming book, Stolen: Stealing the Show. Warning: This story is does not have a good guy hero. Christopher is a thief. No change that. He is the best thief in the world, and he’s out to prove it. If you like it when the villain gets away you will love this story.

P.S. No heroines were harmed during the writing of this story…well……maybe spanked a little.

Why not tell us a little something about Leila?
What can I say about me that’s interesting. Hmmm. Well, I am the only female in an all male IT Department for a ‘s clothing catalog company. I am married with one son. So, if you didn’t read between the lines then here it is spelled out for you. I’m surrounded by men all day, all the time.

And no I’m not bald yet. But I feel as if I need to bite my tongue off more than half the time. And dirty jokes no longer phase me.

What does the future hold for Leila in upcoming works?
Well, I have two books coming out in the Cobblestone Press’s Wicked line about master thieves and what these individuals are will do to prove it. I am also working on sequels to The Diamond Heartstone and A Chance Encounter.

Changeling Press will release of the final book linked to Soundwave’s Surrender. The second book was Mastering Mirage and the final one will be titled Making Mischief. And while this will be the end of the Soundwave books, it will not end the Super Sex series. I will have another one releasing from Changeling in Jan 2009.

Can you describe yourself in 3 sentences for our readers?
I am a hard working insomniac who loves to read. My personal motto is carpe scrotum – grab life by the balls. And finally, I love to talk. (If you couldn’t tell. LOL)

I read that your writing time is normally during your lunch time or after 9 when everyone is sleeping. Do you manage to get many words typed during this time?
Well at lunch I can usually manage 500 – 1000+ words. And at night if I’m lucky I can get anywhere from 500 – 2500+. My personal best was a 7,000+ word day. (Yeah…only happened once so far.)

Do you find it hard in locating a publisher for your works?
Yes and no. I am always looking to get into new publishers because I think it’s always best to have options. And building a relationship with different publishers can only help you and grow your readership. But, I’ve had my fair share of rejections. I just brush them off and keep writing. Otherwise the stories in my head would drive me crazy.

How do you keep your ideas fresh and imaginative?
I love B-movies. (And C, D, and F-movies.) I also have a huge bookshelf of all types of paranormal and criminal investigation reference books.

Do you ever make New Years Resolutions or just brush that thought aside?
I make one or two every year. My resolution for 2008 was to have 8 books released this year. I don’t know if I am going to make it but I have damned sure tried.

Do you have a favorite pair of shoes that you cannot do without?
I must say that it’s any pair of tennis shoes. I love my sandals and strappy sexy shoes but nothing feels better than slipping my feet into my comfortable tennis shoes.

Which do you think is more romantic, a walk in the country or along the beach?
Well, I have walked along the beach in Galveston TX, San Francisco CA, and Cancun. And I must say the beach is way sexier. (The deciding factor is the bugs. Not many bugs along the waterline at the beach. Yes…I am a bug-a-phobe.)

Do you have something in your house or closet that you know you will never throw out?
Everything. I used to be extremely skinny so I have a ton of clothes from my journey to my current healthy size. And I am determined to lose the weight and get back into those clothes. Although by time I do it they will no longer be in style. LOL.

Beyond clothes I would say it is a writing set my brother sent me while he was stationed in Japan. I have never used it but I think it is extremely cool.

You just learn you have to bake sixty cupcakes, and two cakes for a charity event the following day. In the meantime your editor phones and needs the edits done before morning. Do you panic or just take things in strive and get the jobs done?
I would pull up a chair and edit while the cupcakes are baking. No Dose and caffine would become my immediate best friends.
