Paige Tyler Interview
Today we have the pleasure of speaking to the author of sexy romantic fiction, Paige Tyler. Hello Paige and thanks for being a guest at Fallen Angel Reviews.
The readers would love to hear something about Paige. If we were to follow you around for a day, what would we see in your everyday life? They'd find out that I'm a very routine-oriented person, for one thing. I find that I get more done if I stick to a schedule. I like to start my day by doing Pilates after my hubby goes to work. Then after showering and putting on a little make-up, I check my email, my Facebook, my yahoo group, etc. Then I post any blogs if I'm blogging anywhere and do other promo type stuff. After all the personal and administrative stuff is out of the way, I finally get down to writing! As you have probably already figured out, sometimes by the time I finally get ready to write, I discover that it's time for dinner! Drats!!! Okay, maybe tomorrow. Seriously though, I do try to compartmentalize my day, so I can focus at least some time strictly to writing. I always feel a little better about the day if I can get some writing in.
Why not tell us about your latest release?
My newest release is a hot, paranormal erotic romance called Vampire 101, which is the first book in my Modern Day Vampires Series It's about a weekend Goth-girl who gets turned into a vampire only to discover that everything she thought she knew about them is wrong! It's a fun, sexy story that'll have readers looking at vampires in a whole different way, as well. It's available from Whiskey Creek Press Torrid.
I loved writing the story - the words literally flew off my keypad! The characters were so easy to connect with that I couldn't stop writing - they wouldn't let me! As a matter of fact, after Vampire 101 was finished, the main characters threatened to steal my laptop if I didn't write another story involving them. What could I do? I'm banging out the outline for the sequel right now. Make sure you check out my website, so you can get all the sexy details of Vampire 101 and the sequels!
Do you feel as if the characters live with you as you write? Definitely! They usually like to hang out with me while I'm putting my make-up on in the morning in the bathroom and tell me all about where they think the story should go and what they think they should be doing. They especially seem to get upset if I stop in the middle of a steamy scene and leave them hanging - though I don't suppose I can blame them. LOL! Truly, I can't tell you how many times I've changed a story just because the lead characters sat me down and explained that they just weren't feeling it. They're always asking "What's my motivation in this scene?"
While writing, how does the story develop for you? Do you go from start to finish or create scenes as they come to you? Though I like to work from a pretty detailed outline, some scenes in the outline are less detailed than others. So while I may have a basic idea of what the scene should look like, I don't let that force down a path that doesn't feel natural. Sometimes inspiration will strike and take me in a whole new direction that I never saw coming.
Do you get a toasty feeling all over to see your book published? Totally! I do a little Snoopy Dance every time a new book comes out! LOL! I usually call up my hubby at work and scream at him over the phone that my new book is out, too. He thinks I'm crazy most of the time. But I can't help it. I get so happy every time a book comes out. Heck, I feel the same way every time someone tells they read one of my books and loved it.
Do you have problems promoting yourself, and do you find the promotion hard work? Promotion is easy, but very time-consuming. It takes time away from writing, but it's part of the deal. Besides, in addition to helping sell books, it also lets me connect with my readers, which I really enjoy! As I said above, there is nothing more motivating than when a reader says they love my stuff and can't wait to read my next book.
What one thing makes you unique? Wow, that's a toughie! Rarely does one thing make a person unique, unless maybe if I had a trunk like an elephant, or ears like a fruit bat! LOL! But in general, I would say that the one thing that defines me is my love of Disney. I'm an absolute Disney freak! I guess that sort of tells you the kind of person I am. I like to laugh, to play, to run around like a crazy person - simply enjoy the magic of happiness. That's what Disney is all about, so it perfectly describes me.
If your best book was made into a screenplay and movie, and you won an Oscar, what is the first thing you would do? The Snoopy Dance! LOL! Well, maybe I wouldn't do it right there in front of everyone, but I'd totally be jumping up and down later! Then I'd get on the stage and tell everyone that I'm "going to Disney World!"
Are you an organized person? I like to think so. (But my hubby is over on the couch shaking his head) LOL! Hey, I know which dresser drawer my underwear is in, what else could you ask for?
I love the heated cover on your website, and the fact you mention your husband is your best research assistant. That is neat. The thirteen websites you regularly visit is pretty neat. Would you share your website, myspace, Facebook, or blog with us? Thanks so much! I'd be happy to!

Of all the cities to visit in the U.S. which would you say would be the best to take a trip? It's a tossup! Two of my favorite cities are Seattle and San Francisco. Which is probably why a lot of my books take place in them! In fact, Vampire 101 is set in San Francisco and two of the other books in the Modern Day Vampire Series are going to be set in Seattle! In addition to being beautiful, both Seattle and San Francisco offer so much to do, from shopping to nightlife to tourist attractions! And the weather in both is awesome!
Which do you like best, sunsets, or sunrises? Wow, another toughie! I love them both, but is there anyway you could arrange to have the sun rise a little later, say maybe nine o'clock? I'm not really a morning person. Just kidding! LOL!
Which do you prefer, long walks or cuddling by the fire? That one is easier. I love long walks, but only on the beach. I don't do other kinds of nature. I'd take central air to a fireplace. Less work and safer, too.
Paige, thank you so much for chatting with us today. It has indeed been a pleasure. Good luck to you and your writing. Thank You!
