Regina Carlysle Interview

Today I'd like to welcome Regina Carlysle to Fallen Angel Reviews. Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions for us today Regina.

To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
First of all, thanks so much for having me here, Angels! I live in west Texas with my husband of 26 yrs and I'm the mom of two grown kids, a boy and a girl. Now I get to spend my days WRITING and that suits me fine. Maybe I'm a dinosaur but I've been a stay at home mom for years. In my pre-kid days, I worked in print journalism as both an editor and writer and I began writing romance fiction seventeen years ago. Most of my earlier efforts are currently sitting under my bed with the dust bunnies! Now I'm a multi published author of Romantica. I am published at Ellora's Cave, Resplendence Publishing and The Wild Rose Press (under another name).

What is your favorite part of a book to write?
That's a tough one! I think I love writing emotional scenes the most. Writing a scene where the hero and heroine finally get down to fessing up about their feelings and WHY they feel that way is something I just love. Of course, I also like writing SEX SCENES.

What would you like to accomplish with your writing career?
Writing for Ellora's Cave is huge for me and I'd have to say that I dearly love where I am now. The other writers and my editor are a huge part of my life, both personally and professionally, and I can't imagine being happier. One day I'd love to see my books translated for the overseas market. That would be so COOL.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Like all romance lovers, I have my favorites, of course. I think I most admire the wonderful Sandra Hill. Her humor just rocks the HOUSE and I'd love to be able to do that. Humor is difficult to write and I'd love to know her secret!

Can you tell us a little about your current release?
My newest release is Feral Moon, which was just released in print at Ellora's Cave. It's part of an anthology called Tempting Turquoise and includes stories by Elaine Lowe, Amy Ruttan and MOI. Feral Moon is a shifter story (m/m/f/m) and though it's a QUICKIE, it packs a lot of punch in just a few pages. I'm especially proud of this one because it's the first paranormal for me. Feral Moon was first released as an e-book in December and the reception for the story was so good that I'm planning a series with the Turquoise Moon Were Panthers.

What things do you find yourself doing that you said you'd "never" do?
That's a tough one because I learned a looooong time ago to never say never.

If you could be invisible for one hour, what would you do and where would you go?
Hm. I think I need more coffee and more thought for this question.

What are you currently working on?
Currently I'm working on the third book in a shifter series featuring wolves who have made their home on the desolate Texas plains. Highland Beast, the first story, comes out April 29 at Ellora's Cave and the second book, Lone Star Lycan, is contracted and awaiting edits. I'm roughly at the halfway point in Ringo's Ride.

Since everybody needs a break, even when doing something they love, how do you like to spend your time away from writing?
I don't take breaks often. Yes, I'm practically CHAINED to my computer but I love to dine out with my family. I also adore just lolling around in my beautiful backyard in the spring and summer months. My husband keeps the flowers and shrubs looking gorgeous and I love nothing more than just sitting out there overlooking the pool with an icy beverage. We have music out there and tend to switch on an oldies channel.

What can your fans look forward to in the next twelve months from you?
Shifters, shifters and more shifters. I've found I love writing them and I currently have two worlds going (Texas wolves and Texas panthers). They can also expect that I'll insert a few Texas-themed contemporaries and maybe another erotic regency into the mix.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Yes. I have an erotic regency, Chasing Temptation, coming out May 5 at Resplendence Publishing. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does. I'm a HUGE historical fan and I wrote them for years before switching to contemporary and paranormal. I will also be among the featured authors in the final Caveman anthology at Ellora's Cave. Very exciting.
