Today I am speaking with romance author
N.J. Walters. Good Morning
N.J., welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews. It is a pleasure to have you with us today.
It’s my pleasure to be here, Linda. Thank you for having me.
I must say I visited your website and like the way you have it organized. You have quite a selection of reading with some fabulous covers.
Thanks for stopping by my website. I try to keep it straight forward and up-to-date. I love all my covers. I have some absolutely gorgeous ones. It’s hard to decide which one is my favorite because they’re all so beautiful.
Why don’t you tell us about your recent release,
Alexandra’s Legacy? The readers are eager to hear about this story.
Alexandra’s Legacy is my first werewolf story and the start of a new series with Samhain Publishing.
Alexandra Riley’s day starts out like any other in her normal, predictable world. Then a tall, dark stranger bursts into her father’s garage and shatters the illusion. In one shocking moment, she discovers why she’s been feeling hot, restless—she’s the half-breed daughter of a legendary werewolf and is a much-sought-after prize.
Joshua Striker, enforcer in charge of protecting the alphas of the Wolf Creek pack, has come to take Alex home. Nothing more, nothing less. From the first moment he sees her, she becomes the one thing he can’t afford—a distraction from his duty. A weakness he doesn’t want—but can’t resist needing.
If only keeping her safe was as simple as fending off males on the hunt for a mate. Through city streets to the mountains of North Carolina, Alex and Joshua have to evade those who don’t want their pure bloodlines tainted with human DNA, as well as bounty hunters who think the only good werewolf is a dead one.
What Joshua and Alex can’t outrun is the passion that flares between them—or the choice Alex must eventually face. Whether to claim her inner wolf, or forfeit her chance to claim Joshua as her own.
Where do you get your ideas to compose all your wonderful stories?
Ideas come from everywhere—television, magazines, snippets of conversation. Usually I hear or see something that gets my mind asking questions and the story idea comes from there. On occasion, an idea will seem to come from out of nowhere. I take them wherever I can get them.
What can the readers expect from your talented fingers in the future?
More of the same. LOL I plan to keep writing. I have so many ideas and never enough time to write them all. I am part of a series with three other authors. The Hearts of Fire series from Ellora’s Cave features authors Nicole Austin, Ciana Stone, T.J. Michaels and myself. We’re each writing one book and the fifth book we’re writing together. It’s a paranormal series with a nasty demon that’s been a ton of fun to work on.
I also have a new Tapestries book coming out in 2010 and hope to have another werewolf book as well.
When is the best time for you to indulge in your writing?
I’m a morning writer. I like to work before my head gets too cluttered with other stuff. I can edit at any time, but new writing is best done early in the day.
When your books are finished do you hate saying goodbye to the characters?
Not really. I always have other characters nagging me to get to their books. LOL Plus, I write a lot of series so I get to visit characters again when and if I want to.
What intrigues you about writing?
Everything. I love the process of writing and editing and creating something special. I get paid to tell stories. It’s the best job in the world.
Is there a particular author that you must run out and grab their next release to read?
There are so many it’s hard to keep track. I was a reader long before I was a writer. Nora Roberts, Jayne Ann Krentz, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Stephanie Laurens, J. R. Ward, Christine Feehan, Charlene Teglia, Lauren Dane and Nicole Austin to name a few.
You are at Barnes and Noble for a book signing and you look up to see Donald Trump, and Diane Sawyer, standing in line for your autograph. What is your reaction?
I’ve never actually done a book signing so that in itself would be thrilling. I’d be happy to meet them, certainly, but I’d be more excited to meet some of the readers I’ve been chatting with online for years.
Do you belong to any loops or have a myspace? Can you share with us, along with your website?
No myspace page, but I do belong to both the Samhain and Ellora’s Cave author yahoo chat groups.

What’s your favorite comfort food that you cannot live without?
That’s so hard. I love food. I’d have to say chocolate and cheese. Probably cheese is #1.
What is your favorite spice that you enjoy cooking with?
Honestly, I’m not much for spicy food. I like my food plain. I don’t even use salt when I cook. Probably pepper is the spice I use most and, even then, sparingly.
Where do you consider the best place to vacation?
The beach. I love the beach. And not a resort, but an isolated beach where I can wander for hours.
Is there anything else that you would like to share?
2009 was a very busy year for me with 9 new ebooks and 2 print books released and I expect 2010 to be just as busy. I want to thank all the readers for your constant encouragement and support. I wouldn’t be able to do it without you.
N.J., thank you for spending time with us today, and I wish you success in your writing. We look forward to more of your great books.
Thank you so much, Linda. It’s been my pleasure.
