Everyone, please help me give a warm welcome to multi-published author,
L.A. Day.
L.A. it is great to have you interview with Fallen Angel Reviews. I can’t wait to get to know you better.
You have a new book,
Prey, can you tell us a little about it?
Prey is a vampire erotic romance. Amber, the heroine is an ex-prostitute with a bad attitude about men. When she is assaulted and left for dead a vampire turns her. Marcus is sent to instruct her in the ways of a vampire and the sparks fly. They both have a lot of adjustments to make before they can happily exist together.
What would you say is the biggest difference between this book and any of your other work?
As I said, the heroine is an ex-prostitute so she is definitely grittier than my usual heroine.
I have read that your favorite genres are paranormal and sci-fi, can you tell us what about those genres make them your favorite?
I’ve always love everything sci-fi and paranormal. When it comes to writing, it really allows you to let your imagination run wild. I love alpha men and when you are writing about futuristic or paranormal men you can give them some awesome attributes and traits.
Erotic paranormal is really hot right now, what do you think makes it so popular?
Probably because there are so many variables and it really takes you out of your everyday life. My stories are fantasies and the bigger the better.
Do you plan on branching out and trying any other genres?
I love western/cowboy romances so I’ll probably give it a shot one day.
Has being a published author changed your life in any way?
It has enabled me to stay home and write full time which is cool.
What is the biggest misconception about being an author?
That it’s easy. It’s really hard work and time consuming.
What makes a great book to you?
Characters with chemistry. While my stories are total fantasy, I want to believe that the kind of love/lust I write about can exist for everyone.
What does your working space look like?
It’s usually a mess. I always have several projects going on and I tend to leave my research everywhere.
What is a typical day like for you?
I get up early and take my daughter to school then I get to work. I usually do emails and such first then dive into the writing. I take a break when my daughter and husband get home but I usually write again at some time during the evening.
How many hours a day do you spend writing?
It varies but on average 7-8 hours though sometimes many more.
Would share a little something about any upcoming works?
I have a sci-fi erotic romance titled Companion Operation that will release from Ellora’s Cave in 2009. It’s the story of a woman that is convicted of a crime she didn’t commit. Instead, of going to a prison colony she is made a sexual companion to two officers on a deep space voyage. Of course, everything isn’t quite as it seems!
I have to give you at least one totally off the wall question so here goes, I know you like dogs, if you were a dog what breed would you be and why?
LOL Probably a Yorkie. I have one and she loves to cuddle and play but she also bitches and bites.
Thanks so much for interviewing me!
