Savannah Chase Interview

Hello Savannah! It is great to have you with us at FAR. Thank you for taking time to answer some questions. Now let us begin our interview with the best selling erotica and romance author, Savannah Chase.

Wow, Savannah, ‘satisfy your desire…indulge your temptation,’ that is an inviting slogan. I found your website easy to navigate. Bid for Love has a tempting cover; I believe it is now available, along with Pleasure after the Pain. Which one would you like to discuss with us today, or perhaps tell us a little about both?
I want to start off by saying a huge thank you to Fallen Angel Reviews for interviewing me. It is a pleasure to be here.

Thank you for checking out my site. I’m thrilled you found it easy to get around. That is on top of my list when it comes to having a site. I want visitors to be able to get around with no problem. This way they will keep coming back.

I would love to tell you a little about both my books.

Bid For Love - Nico’s history of romantic disasters has taught her when she gambles on men, she fated to lose. That doesn’t stop her from secretly lusting after Jeff, the handsome construction worker she sees everyday on her way to work.

When the New York’s Sexiest Bachelor auction begins and Jeff comes up on the block, she’s seriously tempted to place a bid. The wager can’t be taken lightly — it might be for a good cause, but she’s making a bid for love……

Pleasure After the Pain- What is your wildest fantasy about getting a tattoo? A night out on the town with a friend ends up bringing Serena to a tattoo parlour. There she discovers a tattoo that takes a hold of her. Something about it calls to her. Body art can bring pleasure to its owner but this tattoo brings more pleasure then Serena ever imagined. Will Serena’s tattoo give her more pleasure than she could imagine or will it be a fleeting moment of pleasure after the pain?

Where did you get the idea to write either of the books?
Bid For Love came from seeing construction workers near my house. I wanted to write a story with a Valentine’s Day theme and a construction hunk was just perfect.

When it comes to the book Pleasure After The Pain, that came from my fascination with tattoos. I just love looking at the different designs out there and how they look on the human skin. Each tattoo has significance to its owner and it made me think what it would be like if the there was a magical tattoo.

How long does it take you to finish a book from start to submission?
It all depends on the length of the book. There is one book that I’ve been working on for over three years. If my muse is on a roll I can finish a story in a week. That would be a novella…For a full novel a month or two.

As a hopeless romantic who believes everyone has a soul mate, where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Five years I see myself with more of my books published, maybe in print. I would also like to open my own publishing company one day. I see myself writing and sharing my work with the world. As long as I’m creating and writing I’m happy.

Your stories, excite, thrill and make one feel awe when they are finished reading, well, they do with me. You write sizzling tales, and some revolve around friendships. What rating would you give friendship in a relationship on a scale from one to ten?
Wow thank you so much. I’m honored and in awe myself when I get comments like yours. I still sometimes have to pinch myself to make sure this is all real.

When it comes to friendship in a relationship I think I would rank it an eight. It is very important because if you can’t be friends with the person how are you supposed to be in a relationship.

Do you get along well with all your editors?
I get along with them great. I have been so lucky to work with such amazing people who have helped me grow as an author. With each book I always learn something new. One never stops learning no matter how long you have been doing this.

Are there any other upcoming projects that you are working on that you could share with us?
I am working on a novella called Taste of Passion that I’m currently editing.

Bakery owner Valentine Benington's day just went from the best of her life to the worst. Toronto Tribune reviewer David Fraser shows up after a fire almost came close to destroying the kitchen. After his last review ended with food poisoning, it's not the best of starts. First looks can be deceiving. The food isn't the only thing on the menu he'd like to taste. When these two get to cooking the flames from the oven aren't the only thing setting the kitchen on fire.

Do your characters ever wake you up in the middle of the night and insist you write?
Yes they do, sometimes it is just as I’m falling asleep. There are night’s they won’t even let me get to sleep until late hours. I know by now that it is something I should not ignore. If I have to write I get up and write.

Do you edit as you write, or finish the first draft and then begin editing?
I sometimes edit as I write but mostly I tend to edit after I finish the first draft. I really want to get my idea and the story down on paper I don’t want to stop. I’m afraid that if I stop and start to edit the flow of the story will vanish.

What does your workspace look like?
I have a corner desk with tons of books…It use to be cluttered with notes and sticky notes but I changed it all around. Everything is neat except for a few notes that I now keep in a small notebook. I also have a stack of CDs and my mp3. I need my music to play while I work.

Do you ever suffer writer’s block?
Oh yes the evil two words...LOL... That is something you can’t escape. I have had writers block that lasted a month and some last a week or two. I try to work on other stuff to break the block and sometimes it works.

While writing, how does the story develop for you? Do you go from start to finish or create scenes as they come to you?
Sometimes I will write a book start to finish and there have been times where I have had to write a scene that was not going to happen till many chapters later. I also try to make detailed notes if I have scenes that might happen down the road.

Savannah, what would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
Hmm, this question always gets me…I think one thing would be that I use to play the violin as a young girl. I haven’t played for many years so I’ve probably forgotten how to play.

If you were given a choice to spend a day at the spa, or have a maid for a day, which would you choose?
Spend the day at the spa for sure. I have never been to a spa and always wanted to go. I could never find the time to go. I would love to be pampered and not have a care in the world for the day.

You have been chosen to sky dive with one of your favorite authors. Would you take the jump and which author goes with you?
For sure I would. It would be a thrill and an experience that you could not pass up. Even if I tried it once it would still be something. I would take Sherrilyn Kenyon with me. I love her work so much. She inspired me to follow my dream.

Savannah, thank you for spending the morning with us. Good luck with your writing and all your great books that come our way.
