Today I'd like to welcome author Sarah Mäkelä
to Fallen Angel Reviews. Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions for us today Sarah
Please tell us about your upcoming book Techno Crazed.
Techno Crazed is about a Private Investigator named Hannah Franklin who has her life turned upside down when she receives a phone call from an informant with dirt on a home security giant that's rumored to be killing government officials that stand in its way. An attempt is made on her life, leaving her to team up with her ex-boyfriend, Ian Bradley -- a freelance hacker and technomage, and a very annoying gnome.
Is there a message in your story that you want readers to grasp?
Keep gnomes happy, and be nice to your employees. *grins*
When did you first start writing? What made you want to become a writer?
I started writing fiction in elementary school. In junior high, I had a children's story win for my school and go on to districts to get an Excellence in Writing award. I asked my English teacher afterward if she thought it was publishable and she said yes. I think that moment was the first turning point that made me want to pursue writing as a career. I started looking into publishers and agents and began researching the industry. When I started reading Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series and Christine Feehan's Dark series in high school, I immediately knew what it was I wanted to write.
What satisfies you about your writing?
I love seeing the characters make it through their struggles to reach their happy endings. Also, I'm thrilled to see Techno Crazed published. It's great to know that my hard work so far has paid off.
Almost every author at some point or another suffers from writer's block. Have you ever had that problem? How do you deal with it?
Yes, of course. I think it effects me most when I'm feeling stressed, so I try to sit down and write through it. If I can't because I'm not sure what happens next, then I have a brainstorm session with my hubby and take a day or so to read.
What was one of the most surprising things you learned while creating your books?
That two seemingly unrelated concepts could go so well together. Gnomes and cyberpunk. I also learned while writing Techno Crazed that I'm not half bad at adding humor here and there. I still laughed after reading the story several times.
What can your fans look forward to in the next six months from you?
Within six months, I hope to have the second (and possibly third) book in my Hacked Investigations series done. I also have a new paranormal romance called Jungle Heat in a series revolving around the Amazon Rainforest, Amazon warriors, and cat shapeshifters that's been contracted and is coming soon. I have a paranormal romance standalone title up my sleeve as well.
What tools do you feel are must-haves for writers?
I'd say that a must-have for writers is a really good critique group, or partner at least, that you trust with your work. Also, a solid grasp on the craft of writing.
What book has influenced your life the most?
Hmm… this is a toughie. I guess I'd have to say Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. It inspired me to become the writer I am.
What would you consider your most interesting quirk?
When in the car, I always want to be the driver. I tend to get on edge when I'm the passenger.
If you had a warning label, what would it say?
Warning: morbid, but cute. (Okay, my husband helped me out on that one. I'm not totally vain.)
Now for a little fun. Please finish the following sentences:
The first thing I do in the morning is…
check my email from my either phone or computer.
My first celebrity crush was…
wow, I can't even remember. I'll go with Timothy Olyphant, Henry Cavill, and Gerard Butler as my current crushes. *grins*

Do you have a website or blog where readers can learn more about you and your works?
Yes, I have both. My website. You can sign up for my quarterly newsletter at my website, which features a giveaway every time. My blog. I'm on Twitter and Facebook.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
