Today I have the pleasure of speaking with author Dominique Eastwick
. Thanks for being here with us today Dominique
To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Well I am a wife and mother of two boys, ones now a teenager (HELP ME). In my previous life I was a costume Designer in the theatre. But found I couldn't have a family, theatre and a life so something had to give. I have no regrets for hanging up my costuming crown.
Please tell readers a little bit about your current release Strawberry Kisses
It's part of the 1 Night Stand series at Decadent Publishing. It's about a rubenesque nerdy woman and a hunky middle aged accountant who is ready to go after what he really wants.
What inspired you to write Strawberry Kisses
Well Valerie Mann and Kate Richards whose brainchild is 1NS have been dear friends and I wanted to support them and the idea of a short story sounded like a challenge, I always write longer stories so it was a nice change.
Is there a message in your story that you want readers to grasp?
I think it's in all my stories, be who you are and go after your hearts desires even if it means taking a chance.
What would you like to accomplish with your writing career?
I would love to be able to just write for a living.
Can you tell us a little about the Sherman
series coming soon from Musa Publishing?
Well the first two books will be re-released this month. Hunting JC and its sequel Tony's Haven. The series follows a well to do Boston Family as their five children, one daughter and four sons find love. I am currently working on Killing Lucas.
What is the best advice that anyone ever gave you?
Rules of Writing
1. Don't get it Right, Get it Written!
2. You cannot fix a blank page!
3. Give yourself permission to write crap, Crap can be fixed...see #2!
While writing, how does the story develop for you? Do you go from start to finish or create scenes as they come to you?
Usually I do it start to finish but if I get writers block or Thalia my muse goes missing I will write a scene later on that might be in my head to get through the block.
Where do you hope to take your writing in the future?
I hope to just be a name that people think of and say I really enjoy her books.
Where would you say that you get your most creative ideas?
In the shower or waiting at stop lights LoL
On top of being a published author, you are also the Promotions Director for Musa Publishing. How do you manage to keep everything balanced?
I am not sure I have found the balance yet. We shall see. But it's a learning process and I hope in a few months to be able to breathe a little.
We all have one, so tell us yours. What is your favorite comfort food?
Mashed potatoes from KFC.
Describe yourself in 5 words.
Silly, witty, loyal, guilt ridden, Tired.
Is there anything else you would like to add today?
I am editing the first in a new series called The Wiccan Haus, at Musa Publishing its an author driven paranormal series that we are hoping will bring in lots of different authors to write for it. Shifting Hearts if due out November 11th.
