Musa Publishing Interview

Today we are chatting with Musa Publishing. They are a new e-book publishing company that opened their doors this month. Thank you for joining us at Fallen Angel Reviews and taking time out of your busy schedule to talk to us.

E-publishing is a competitive market. What sparked the idea to create Musa Publishing?

Four of us, Celina Summers, Kelly Shorten, Kerry Mand, and myself Dominique Eastwick, had been working together at another publisher and when we decided to leave we threw around the idea of creating our own business, very quickly the idea formed into something solid and viable.

What makes your publishing house different from the other e-publishers?
Total transparency with our authors, as well as a database that give authors access to everything at one place including sales figures.

How long did the development process take?
From initial conception to opening our electronic doors for sales about 2 months.

How many books do you release each month?
At the moment we are at about 5 to 6 releases a week so 20 to 25 books per month depending on the Fridays, but some of those are from the Aurora Regency Imprint we bought. Many of the books on the schedule are re-releases or books never re-released that had been edited already.

From the publisher's viewpoint, what has been the most rewarding aspect of this venture?
Seeing it form from conception to reality, watching the authors get excited about their book as well as the company as a whole.

What can we look forward to seeing from Musa Publishing in the future?
More books in a number of Genres, Penumbra our Spec fic eMag, and we have a few things in the works that we can't talk about yet.

Are you currently accepting Submissions? If so, how can authors contact you about their submissions?
Yes we are open for submissions, our contract can be downloaded here and our submissions information is here.

Do you accept stories from authors who have been at a publishing house that has closed down, if the author has received their contracts back?
Yes, if they have the rights reversion letter we will consider that manuscript.

Can you tell us how many authors you have contracted at this point?
I don't have the exact number because I know Celina and Kerry are always contracting more authors but at present we have over 75 authors under contract.

What is your goal for Musa Publishing?
To offer good books at a reasonable price to readers, as well as to offer a great experience for our authors.

If Musa Publishing was a person, how would you describe them?
No pun intended but like an open book.

Is there a forum readers can join that will keep them updated on new releases and events?
They can follow our blogs the best would be to follow the main blog then move to the smaller ones later.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
We hope people will give Musa a chance both as a reader and as an author, I think they will be pleasantly surprised at what they find.

Again, let me say thank you so much for sitting and chatting with us today. I know how incredibly busy you must be and we at Fallen Angel Reviews are very thankful for your time and energy doing this interview.
Thank you so much for having us, we are overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received.
