Sultry Summers Interview

Today I'd like to welcome author Sultry Summers to Fallen Angel Reviews. Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions for us today Sultry.

Tell us about your latest book. What's the title and when will it be released?
Actually there are two books which comprise my first series titled- Heirs Of The Dragon's Eye - Book 1, Star TyGer and Book 2, Revenge Immortal - both are already available at Melange Books and several other normal book outlets.

When did you first start writing? What made you want to become a writer?
Not until rather late in life, I've always had my head in science - however I've always written, generally sci/fi - fantasy romance for my own pleasure. I started wanting to publish after writing a romance for my Mom.

What satisfies you about your writing?
Escaping into another world, another place and hopefully giving those same pleasures to others.

How did you celebrate selling your first book?
I took my daughter to a beach party, it was already planned but later I drank some good wine.

Almost every author at some point or another suffers from writer's block. Have you ever had that problem? How do you deal with it?
Of course, it's like the writer's flu - and I try to get outside and enjoy nature - however since moving North, when the winter is really cold that doesn't work. I've recently found writer's block seems to accompany a lack of sleep. So I try to not over do myself.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
Writing for myself is one thing, that's easy - no one to impress or catch my mistakes. Your brain tends to see what you want there not what is really there. Creating for another person is vastly different. You really have to establish the world or the situation clearly.

What were your feelings when your first novel was accepted and when you first saw the cover of the finished product?
Honestly, I cried.

What can your fans look forward to in the next six months from you?
I have two books in submissions - waiting on pens and needles like all authors - but I have one contracted with Melange due out in May, titled Submission In Time. A time travel from the modern, business world of Manhattan NY, to the 1700's St Kitts, in the Caribbean and Pirates. The C.E.O. of a company is kidnapped back in time by a Scottish Lord. She's not real happy about it - at first.

What tools do you feel are must-haves for writers?
Patience, imagination and a true love of creating another world or a really complex situation the author must resolve.

What book has influenced your life the most?
There have been several, The Sheik - an old book - oh 1920's my mother gave to me when I was about 17 to read. The Wolf and The Dove and then there is a very long list of Science Fiction and Fantasy books there isn't room for but DUNE is one of them. ; )

What would you consider your most interesting quirk?
I like to write in the hot tub - or the bath tub.

If you had a warning label, what would it say?
Prepare to escape - but there is no guarantee of destination or events along the way.

Do you have a website or blog where readers can learn more about you and your works? and escapeintoromance-dareimagination.blogspot.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Keep watching for more writing from me. I have several other projects near completion. For almost a year I was out of commission due to a major move North and some serious family business. Now I'm back at it.

Thank you for spending time with us today Sultry!
Thank you for the interview and letting my fans know - I'M BACK !!!
