What he expected was to be attracted to Clarissa, to want and desire her. What Ronan never anticipated was to have his dormant emotions come roaring back to life. Not since his betrothed’s vicious murder hundreds of years ago has he felt like this. What Ronan wants with Clarissa is something he can’t have…eternity.

Clarissa has had visions and a keen sense of knowing all her life. Her visions are what has brought her back to Pine Forest. She can’t just stand back and let the town be destroyed if there’s anything she can do to help. Clarissa is inundated by what she feels when she’s around Ronan. He puts these extremely erotic thoughts of what it would be like between them in her head. The fact that Ronan can project his thoughts into her mind suggests that he has some extrasensory talents of his own, but when she witnesses some of his other ‘powers’ Clarissa begins to wonder just what exactly Ronan is. As the truth of Ronan being a vampire comes out and what is expected of her to save the town, she’s incensed that the truth was hidden from her. When Ronan is seriously wounded Clarissa discovers there isn’t much she wouldn’t do to keep this man, the man she is falling in love with, from harm.

Deep is the Night - Haunted Souls is a hot little number with quite a punch. What I liked most about this book was Ms. Agnew's words on friendship. I truly enjoyed the banter back and forth; the knowledge that there isn’t anything one wouldn’t do for the other. For Clarissa and Ronan what starts as a tentative friendship quickly escalates into something much more intense. This couple has a WOW factor that is over the top and that’s before they come together for the first time sexually. When you add the deepening emotion and sexual tension, they are a couple worth remembering. The danger and suspense in Deep is the Night - Haunted Souls will have readers quickly reading to get to the end. You’re never quite sure where Denise Agnew’s story will take you, but it’s certainly pleasurable getting there.
