Mind Game
Lily was determined to track down as many of the little girls her father had conducted experiments on, and Dahlia was on of those girls. Nicolas volunteered to bring Dahlia back, if it was at all possible. From the tapes they’d watched of Dahlia in training, it appeared she had powers that none of the rest them had. She had a way of taking the energy around her and using it to enhance her abilities. Nicolas knew that Dahlia could be very dangerous and he wasn’t talking any chances with the rest of his men, the GhostWalker team, so he said he would go alone.
Dahlia wasn’t at all what Nicolas expected. She wasn’t a danger to others as much as others were dangerous to her. Any type of emotion created energy. Violent energy was the worst for Dahlia as it could incapacitate her. At the moment, they are surrounded by violent energy. It would appear someone wants Dahlia dead and sent a hit team after her. Nicolas is quickly overcome with protective instincts for Dahlia. He vowed to bring her back to Lily if he could, but just having been near her, his mission has taken on a much deeper meaning for him.
Dahlia and Nicolas have to be very careful. Their sexual chemistry could literally burn their surroundings to the ground. When Dahlia feels too much of any feeling, the energy that builds up needs to be released. For Dahlia that usually means the energy manifests itself as fire. Throughout her life Dahlia has had many accidents with balls of fire. Her inability to control her reactions or the energy around her has left a legacy insecurity and despair. How can you possibly have any semblance of a normal life when just being around people makes you ill? Nicolas is an anchor. Just by touching him, his nearness could draw the energy away. Nicolas has vowed to keep Dahlia safe and somehow he will find a way for them to be together. Somehow this tiny woman has wormed her way under his skin and into his heart and he has no intentions of ever letting her go.
In one word, Mind Game is explosive! This is the second book in the GhostWalker series and it has all the elements that will make it as wonderful as the Carpathian series. Christine Feehan has presented a topic that I thought I would have no hope of understanding, and turned it into an exciting, thrilling read. The elaborate descriptions of psyche abilities integrated with true human relationships makes this book powerful. Dahlia’s abilities alone are something worth reading, but when you add in all the secondary characters and their connections you have a phenomenal plot. Ms. Feehan has really outdone herself. Nicolas is all male. It goes against everything he believes in, not to protect Dahlia. Dahlia has been alone all her life. She isn’t used to someone taking care of her, especially when that care comes in the form of military like orders. The dialogue between these two characters at times is hysterical. The sexual chemistry is literally a scorcher. When Nicolas and Dahlia come together the temperature goes through the roof. Mind Game is a definite page-turner and an absolute must buy! 5 Angels!!!
