Never Until Tomorrow
In the year A.D. 3000, Arin McClintock is a responsible commander in the military in Earth society. He is sent on a mission to the past (A.D. 2000), where he is to meet a contact that will lead him to the scientist who originally discovered time travel. Talia Stevens, the daughter of this scientist, turns out to be his contact. Somehow, he must save her from the evil Mr. Bligh--who plans to kidnap her and blackmail her father into giving him the data on time travel.
This seems to be a straightforward mission, but as events unfold, it gets ever more complicated. Who sent Arin to interfere with the past, and exactly why was he sent? Why was Arin specifically chosen for this mission, since this is not his area of expertise? Can Arin save Talia and preserve the future timeline that he knows?
This novel has a very complex plot, involving multiple jumps through time, and an evil mastermind who doesn't reveal himself until the end of the story. The glimpses of the future are very interesting, and the plot picks up speed during the "future" sections of the novel. Despite a slow beginning, I enjoyed the story, and was caught up in it after I got farther into it.
Much of the story is motivated by the heroine not knowing what is going on-although she is told everything toward the end and is involved in the climax. (Preventing the paradoxes of time travel is probably the only plot device that rings true when the author wants to keep one or more of the characters in a story in the dark!) In spite of this, the hero and heroine are admirable people and their relationship is well drawn. For those who wish to know, the sex scenes are shown within a loving relationship and are sensual rather than erotic.
