Agents and Adepts

Agents and Adepts is a collection of 15 short stories which speak to young adults of not only myth and magic, but of responsibility, loyalty, kindness, love, and adventure. The main characters are as varied in their circumstances as they are in their race and gender.

The Demon's Storeroom opens the collection, introducing an odd magical being who crosses into the mundane world to find magic. Goodbye Jennie sees a young woman give up her entire world in exchange for adventure. The Twin Bond is one that follows up on Jennie, and her relationship with her twin sister, Janice, who is introduced in her own right in Someone Is Watching. And then Kathryn Sullivan returns to the land of The Crystal Throne in stories like The Windken.

This short story anthology has something for everyone. I was personally pleased to read a background story concerning the Windken of The Crystal Throne. And I found the other characters fun and likeable. Kathryn Sullivan has a wonderful imagination and is an excellent storyteller. I would recommend this book for any young person who likes adventure in reading.
