Only for this Time
Time. Fate. Death. Desire. Chaos. Fear. They are always there. Constant. Steady. Unyielding. We all deal with them every day of our lives. What about their lives? You say they don't have lives? What if they do? What if they work out of a high rise in downtown Chicago? What if they have to worry about being late for work? What if they need their morning cup of coffee to get them going? What if they have to worry about getting chewed out by their boss if they mess up? In Lynn Warren's Only for this Time these are only some of the things with which "they" have to deal.
Nic Avalon is the boss at Immortality Inc., the company for which the Aspects work. He is also Time. He has been since the beginning and he will be until the end. He controls not only his employees but everything. He can stop or speed up time. He can look into the future, the past and with one tiny move can change everything that has ever been or ever will be. The one thing that he can't control is his newest Aspect, Aurora Devereaux, Fate.
Ever since she came to work for Immortality Inc. two years ago, she has caused him one headache after another. She is impulsive, feisty, independent and so beautiful that she hurts the eyes. He has given her every chance that he possibly can and has fixed more of her mishaps that he cares to count. However, her most recent blunder has far reaching repercussions that will affect the history of mankind and Nic is not sure that he can save her this time. Can Aurora prove to Nic that fate will always find a way or will she be forced to leave a job and a man that she loves?
If I had my way this would be the shortest review that I have ever written. It would say simply say, "oh my gosh, this is an awesome story and you MUST read it". In what is perhaps the most unique story that I have ever read, Ms. Warren takes all of these elements that shape and affect our lives, time, death, fate and others, and gives each of them a face and a personality. While I loved the symbolism and the emotion in this story the main thing that lingers from it is the pure determination of Aurora. Aurora is fate and all through this book she fights tooth and nail to ensure that the "right" outcome is achieved. Even when things seem to be going all wrong and there seems to be no hope that things will work out, "Fate" does not give up the fight. "Fate" takes control and not even "Time" can stop it. Only for this Time. Buy it. Read it.
