Kiile is a man who has everything. He is a leader of the Argon, a highly sensual race of people widely respected by outworlders because of their legendary sexual prowess. He is a young, muscular handsome blonde that the tall, beautiful Argon women find irresistible. As Kiile's 25th birthday approaches, he feels himself becoming slightly jaded. He has everything he needs. There is no novelty in his life to interest or challenge him.
Katrina has spied and stolen for her master since she was quite young. She does not hesitate when her new mission is to assassinate the young Argon. She is responsible for her very ill young brother and needs to be efficient to return to him as quickly as she can. As Katrina has been injected with a sexual suppressant, there is no chance that she will be distracted from her goal. Disguised as a dancer, Katrina has Kiile captivated. As she gazes into his deep green eyes, the lights are extinguished and she throws her knife. Unfortunately it is wide of the target. Kiile's bodyguards soon have the dancer chained in their dungeons.
This voluptuous young woman intrigues Kiile. She is nothing like the slender, all-knowing Argon females. Katrina is an innocent; she is of small stature with luscious feminine curves. Kiile cannot believe it when she shows no reaction to his advances; no woman has ever refused him before. Initially Katrina thinks Kiile is arrogant and overbearing. He is merely an obstacle she needs to overcome so she can return to her brother. She will not reveal the identity of her origins or her master at any cost, knowing that this would put her sibling at risk. Kiile believes that he must keep her close until she is ready to talk. As the suppressant wears off, Katrina and Kiile become more enamoured with each other. She tries to stay focused on her task, but is finding it hard to kill a man that she knows intimately. Kiile has plans for this sweet-toothed hoyden, but his people and his parents will never accept a hired killer in their midst.
Angela Verdenius's story of Kiile and Katrina is one that will be fondly remembered by this reader. The author has very skilfully captured the essence of some everyday characters and thrown in some unique talents. Katrina brings the most humour into the story. She is constantly returning to the kitchen and has a knack for finding delicious treats. Her constant efforts to escape are always thwarted by Kiile or the bodyguards. Yet, when the opportunity arises Katrina proves herself to be beyond reproach. She really has a sweet heart to match her sweet tooth. Kiile has definitely inherited all of the legendary Argon traits. His expertise in bedroom skills is quite enlightening. He was born with some amazing physical attributes and he knows how to use them. But his heart is set on Katrina and he will overcome any obstacle in his path to gain her love. Ms Verdenius's books are a rare treasure. Love's Sweet Assassin is the 4th in the Heart and Soul series published by Wings ePress. Kiile has been introduced in earlier books and this reader has been looking forward to his story. Each of the Heart and Soulseries can be read without prior knowledge of the characters, but once introduced to Ms Verdenius's futuristic world, readers will want not want to miss any of these books.
