Faith, Hope, and Charity
Kirsten Hansen has had a tough life. She ran away as a teen and lived on the
streets. She was pregnant at seventeen and her baby died due to complications
that could have been treated had she seen a doctor during her pregnancy. Now,
Kirsten has gotten her life together. She just graduated from collage with her
teaching degree. Substitute teaching will keep her busy and her bills paid
but now she needs a home.
Reverend Michael Holliman of St. Peter's Church is a single father. His wife
died of cancer when their little girl, Hope was just a baby. The church just
inherited the large, old house across the street. Until it is decided what to
do with the property, Reverend Michael needs to find someone to live there
that is able to pay enough rent to keep up on the taxes.
Meredith, Kirsten's sister, is the only family Kirsten has left. Quinn
McAllister is Kirsten's brother-in-law. When Quinn and Meredith were married,
Quinn introduced Meredith to a new life. A life filled with faith and hope in
God. Michael and Quinn best friends so naturally Michael shares with Quinn his
need to rent the house. Quinn immediately thinks of Kirsten who is in need of
a place to stay. Pastor Michael agrees to let Kirsten rent the house next
door. Soon he realizes what a gem he has found. A reliable babysitter for his
2 year-old daughter, Hope, and a women who has great need of faith and the
gospel in her life.
Very real, three dimensional characters full of love and warmth, Faith,
Hope, and Charity is a wonderful tale about life struggles and how one
woman strives to leave the past behind her and lead a normal, productive
life. Faith is the last thing she thought she would find. Kirsten is a
believable character who is just looking for a cheap place to live until she
finds a permanent teaching post. A woman determined to make it on her own. She
doesn't let her past ruin her future, but uses the lessons of her youth to
help others. Michael needs help with his daughter who is being spoiled rotten
by the "grandmothers" of the church who have so generously taken care of her
when needed. Still feeling the death of his wife, Michael never thought he
would fall in love again. Not this soon anyway. These main characters have
such an immediate attraction that fairly sends steam from the pages. Actually
that is the one and only problem this reviewer has with this book. While not
graphic in an erotic sense, the sexual frustration and heat that the author
has penned in this book seems a little too hot for an inspirational story.
Faith, Hope, and Charity is a great read, very emotional, and
inspirational. The author has described Christian charity at it's best.
Author Ginny McBlain is a gifted author and this reviewer looks forward
to reading many more works by Ms. McBlain. Recommended for readers that
like a little heat in their inspirational romance but not for all
inspirational fans.
