Loreste is a copper headed, tiger-striped beauty. She is a mermaid who is magically gifted, fearless and unlike her fellow merfolk, intrigued by humans.

Hunter is a striking man-tall, wiry with long black hair and the sculptured face of a sea god. He is a hunter of things in the sea, so called because he caught a great white shark with his barehands.

It is forbidden for mermaid and man to commingle, but Loreste can't help but be curious of this man who moves through the air as the quickest fish moves through water. Her curiosity has grim consequences when she finds herself a captive in Hunter's net.

Ms. Laurence weaves a delightful story of a mermaid who defies taboo and falls in love with a man. Loreste and Hunter are two entities who should have never crossed paths, let alone fallen in love but I couldn't help thinking how sweet it was that they loved each other despite the odds against them. I recommend Diana Laurence's Hunter especially if you want a good and quick read with a happily ever after ending. I look forward to more tales told by Ms. Laurence.
