When Janaya stowed away on her Aunt Hinekiri's spaceship, in order to protect her, she certainly hadn't planned on crashlanding and being stranded in an unknown place called Sloan, New Zealand, on the unfamiliar plant of Earth. Luke Morgan, Sloan's Police Constable, was called out to investigate local busybody Mrs Bates' report of flying saucers. Being stranded on Earth is affecting Janaya; she desperately wants to return home, so that she can receive her much-deserved promotion. Earth's atmosphere is causing her problems too; suddenly she's able to do unusual things. As she hasn't been inoculated against it, the atmosphere is heightening ALL of her senses. To top it all off she's imprinted on an Earth male. Her hormones are running riot, as are Luke's. Two aliens (Janaya and Hinekiri), a talking dog (who's always hungry), a spaceship, bad guys a.k.a. the purple people eaters, crop circles and more are about to turn Luke's once peaceful life upside down…
Sensational! Hysterical! Fantastic! These are just three superlatives that spring to mind about Shelley Munro's first Ellora's Cave release, Talking Dogs, Aliens and Purple People Eaters. It's one of the funniest, most enjoyable and original books I've read. The title is what grabbed my interest, and despite the fact that I don't read Sci Fi stories, I couldn't resist taking a chance on Talking Dogs, Aliens and Purple People Eaters. As you might have gathered, I loved this book; from the title until the last page, I was laughing all the way. So, RUN over to EC and grab your copy too. I'm certain you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
