Killing Time

Derryville Illinois, picture perfect hometown America, is being invaded. In just a few short weeks a Hollywood film crew will arrive to begin filming a brand new reality T.V. show, "Killing Time In A Small Town". Real Estate agent and resident bad boy Mick Winchester thinks that he and the rest of the town are ready for them. Absolutely nothing prepares Mick for the arrival of assistant producer Carolina Lamb. She was his college romance, the only woman he has ever loved and the only one he has not been able to forget in eight long years. She is in his office so that he can show her rental properties. Can he help it if the only one that she really likes is VERY close to him?

When Caroline walks into the real estate agency to find a woman holding a naked man at gunpoint she is not sure whether there is a crime being committed of if this is a part of small town America about which she'd rather not know. When she recognizes the man as her college lover, she completely understands the woman's motivation. Mick was and still is the sexiest thing that she has ever laid eyes on. He is also a distraction and complication that she does not need while working on the set of this show. If she can make this show a success she will finally be able to move beyond the ranks of an assistant producer and have all of her dreams come true. At least all of her professional dreams will come true.

I was fascinated by Mick Winchester from the moment he made his appearance in Trick Me, Treat Me so I fully expected to like this book. I was not disappointed. Ms.Kelly's talent is showcased beautifully in Mick and Caroline's poignant story. As Mick and Caroline come to terms with their past and try to determine if they have a future they experience laughter, tears, jealousy, heartache and forgiveness all of which I felt right along with them. In addition to having a lot of emotional intensity and superb character development, Killing Time has a swift and smoothly moving plot, outrageous secondary characters and not one but two mysteries to solve. When you pick up Killing Time, and I strongly recommend that you do, make sure that you have plenty of time to read because you will not want to put it down for any reason.
