When Bruce Met Cyn
For the second time in her twenty-two years Cynthia Potter is starting her life anew. The first time she did this she was seventeen years old and ran away from home. She left behind an uncaring mother and more emotional abuse than anyone should see in a lifetime. She is not proud of the life of prostitution that she has lived, but she did what she had to do in order to survive. Now she is leaving that life behind and following her instincts to Visitation, North Carolina.
The second that Bruce Kelly lays eyes on Cyn he is knows immediately that she is special. She is not only drop dead gorgeous but is full of life, bravado and a confidence that has men and women turning their heads to admire her. It is easy to see that she backs down from nothing and meets every obstacle life throws at her head on. So, why does she literally run screaming into the night when she discovers that he is a preacher?
In When Bruce Met Cyn, Ms. Foster presents her readers with a story that goes past the normal boy meets girl, overcomes conflict and lives happily ever after scenario. It delves into the psyche of her characters and it is easy to see that there is a tremendous amount of research that went into the plotting of these characters. Ms. Foster's trademark sexual tension is present yet downplayed to allow the focus to center on the building of trust and the acceptance of self, which are the two key elements in this book, and in the building of any relationship.
As much as I have enjoyed Ms. Foster's previous work I'll admit to being a bit leery of a romance between a preacher and an ex-prostitute but this is a fabulous book. I loved the way that the characters who will soon appear in their own books are slowly brought into the forefront, the suspense and mystery are in just the right amount to make it a page turner and as always we get to visit with previous characters who make life in Visitation, North Carolina interesting.
