Marten has had enough of female attention. As an Argon, well known throughout the universe for their legendary sexual prowess, he is used to being hounded by women who don't see the man within. They only want his body. It seems no woman is able to resist his many charms. However, he is totally aggravated when a small voluptuous female thief manages to rob and evade him twice. It appears that his luck has changed when he discovers that this bewitching thief is now a stowaway on his spacecraft. The Argon are also well known throughout the universe for their swift retribution in the form of sexual punishments.
Lysie is the runt of her litter. She was never expected to live, so was abandoned and uneducated on her home planet, Scytha. When it became obvious that she was blossoming into a beautiful Felys female, the males wanted her for their breeding program. So she escaped to the other side of the galaxy for a life of freedom. It was tough but Lysie survived by dancing and robbing the rich of their trinkets. At the end of the day all that she really wanted was a full belly and a warm bed to curl up in. When Lysie thought she may be being followed she knew it was time for a change of scenery. But she hid on the wrong spacecraft…
Marten has never met, or even heard of the Felys. It is said that they are the only species able to match the overwhelming sexuality of the Argon. A catlike people, they hiss and spit when cornered, purr when content. Legend has it that a female in heat will not be satisfied by any number of mortal men. If a Felys male does not meet her urge she will go insane. When Lysie is stripped of her disguise Marten is in awe of her strange multi-coloured tortoiseshell hair and deep, swirling eyes. Although her body draws him, she is an innocent and is horrified at her own reaction to Marten's advances. Marten has no idea what he is in for until they dock at a spaceport. Lysie is going into heat for the first time and draws every male within sniffing distance. They are lucky to escape the refuelling station. When Marten himself stops just short of raping her, it looks like he is the one suffering sexual punishments. As they continue the journey to Argon, a "Terminator" like creature, Revadac, picks up her scent. The inevitable Space Pirates appear and disappear. Finally Denyon, Lysie's cousin, and his crew decide that they must have her for the breeding program. After years of searching Marten has finally found the one, if only he can hold on to her…
Angela Verdenius has done it again! A fantastic tale that had this reader hooked from the start. Lysie and Marten are both endearing and perplexing characters. Lysie is a comfort-loving innocent at heart and cannot understand what is happening to her. Marten feels the need to protect and ravish her. The build up of sexual tension is excruciating. As Ms. Verdenius finally creates her heart-stopping sex scenes, this reader could also feel Marten's desperate frustration and excitement at the prospect of his release. This book is number 6 in Angela Verdenius's Heart and Soul series released by Wings ePress. Although enjoyable and lacking nothing as a stand-alone novel, once you've been to Ms. Verdenius's world, you will want to discover more. Purrr-fect!!!Reviewed by: Naomi
