In Jungle Magic we find our hero Cade Jacobs hunting for a tiger, the only problem is that tigers have been extinct for at least 50 years. To further complicate the matter, Cade is no hunter; he is a behind the desk research type of man. Now, not only is he out in the field, but he must find a way to preserve the life of an endangered animal without getting himself killed in the process by the group of men he's accompanying.
While out in the jungle, Cade meets our heroine, Lyza. Lyza is beautiful and unlike anyone or anything Cade has ever seen. Soon, Cade and Lyza are on the run for their lives.
While Jungle Magic is a very short read, it's packed with lots of interesting ideas. I found it to be an enjoyable book. The description of Lyza was painted in such a way that I was able to visualize what she looked like and why Caleb found her so attractive. Interestingly, what happens in this story could almost be turned into a fairytale except for the brief sexual interlude.
Adding to the story is the knowledge that there is a group of hunters after them and should they find them, they will most likely be murdered. Consequently, you have within one short story elements of science fiction, fantasy, suspense and romance, which this reviewer believes to be the right combination to make for a good book. My only real gripe is that Jungle Magic just wasn't long enough for me!Reviewed by: RogueStorm
