Aislyn
Fairy Aislyn O'Sullivan wants two things in life: Seamus Gallagher and to be part of the fairy force. Unfortunately, Seamus seems to see her as only a little sister, so she knows she has to do something to achieve her other goal, being the first female on the fairy force. Aislyn needs help though because the men of the New Zealand Glenveagh colony don't want her to succeed, they don't want the status quo changed. When Seamus agrees to help her train for the fairy force, she is shocked but very happy, as this is a great opportunity for her and Seamus to get closer. When she fails to make the cut though, it is Seamus once again who tries to lift her spirits by giving her a special treat, letting her leave the colony with him for the night. When her trip to the outside world comes back to haunt her, Aislyn is given a chance to do something important for the fairy clan to make up for her trip with Seamus. She is going to test ways to repel cats because cats are the enemies of the fairy women, who release a special pheromone that cats are attracted to. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for Aislyn who plans on keeping her nose to the grindstone in order to prove that she can be helpful to her community. Unfortunately, forces outside her control are conspiring against Aislyn and it will take the help of Seamus to solve the mystery.
Aislyn is an incredible story. The combination of romance, action, the fictitious fairy world, and the mystery Aislyn is investigating proves to be a recipe for success. Shelley Munro's Glenveagh is an amazing place to visit and she makes it seem so real, as if you can find your very own fairy world in your back garden. She also manages to convey the beauty of New Zealand and the surrounding areas as Aislyn discovers the human world. Imagination takes flight in Aislyn as we learn about the fairy's hate for cats, the pills they take to turn into full grown humans and Seamus's mysterious duties as the Guardian. Finally, this reviewer loved the relationship that formed between Aislyn and Seamus. Though he tried to convince himself he couldn't fall in love with her, by the end of the story Seamus knows that there is no woman better suited to him than the quick-tempered and mischievous Aislyn. No other woman will do. If you like your stories filled with colorful characters, love, and a great setting, than Aislyn is the story for you. You will not be disappointed if you pick this story up; it has something for every reader.
