Evening Star
Lilly Wilcox is a starving artist in New York City. She agrees to take a job posing as an escort for a party. Gabriel Abendstern is the heir to a fortune. He is attending the party for his father. Gabe would rather be at his ranch in Montana than hob-knobbing with the rich and famous. Gabe knows his father wants him to marry and have children to carry on the family name. Lilly and Gabe meet at the party and Gabe assumes she is a hooker. They share some sizzling chemistry but Lilly bolts when it gets too physical. Lilly is hired to do a painting and is sent to Montana to complete her job. Lilly meets up with Gabe again; unfortunately, he has become engaged to another woman. However the chemistry is still there; can Lilly overcome her fear of intimacy and find a future with Gabe?
Evening Star features two likable lead characters. Lilly is a woman who is recovering from an abusive relationship. She emerged stronger and wants to make her mark in the art world. She has not had a sexually satisfying relationship and her body's reaction to Gabe is unusual for her. Gabe could have been the stereotypical rich, handsome, playboy but he isn't. There is more depth to him, along with positive as well as negative characteristics. Gabe doesn't like partying and feels more at home at his ranch. He is looking for a woman who he can share a fulfilling relationship with. However, when he doesn't find her he is ready to settle for less. Gabe is also a control freak and Lilly doesn't want to hand over control to any man. These two are wonderful together as they try to work toward a future together. They connect on the physical as well as the emotional levels. The erotic action is not over the top and complements the story.
Evening Star is filled with emotions that reach out to the reader. The characters and the storyline will pull you in and not let go till the last page is read. It you enjoy contemporary romances with more than a touch of heat, this one is up your alley.
