Monday's Child
Demitria (Demi) Standish has been told to accept the proposal from Rev. Jon Flemming, an odious man. Her aunt is determined to have her wed and out of her house. Demi does not wish to marry him. Demi meets up with Lord Garrett Wyndham and they share a passion-filled moment. Her aunt is undeterred by Demi's response and she is betrothed to Rev. Flemming.
Lord Wyndham is shot and Demi nurses him. They make love and for Demi it takes care of her main problem. Demi thinks that Rev. Flemming would not want a woman who could be possibly carrying another man's child. Garrett is upset that she took advantage of him and Demi counters with her own accusations. Can these two resolve their problems and find happiness together?
Demi and Garrett are two very interesting and likable characters. Demi is a woman who refuses to bow to social conventions. She doesn't want to marry a man she disdains because she is told to. Garrett is a man shaped by his childhood. His parents' marriage has left its mark on him. Demi caught his eye and he wants her. Demi has a strong personality and she is able to match Garrett in every way. These two fight and love intensely. Their relationship is combustible and they are highly attracted to each other. There are quite a few erotic scenes and they fit nicely within the storyline. Although there are quite a few secondary characters, ultimately, it is the lead characters who drive the story forward.
Monday's Child was a thoroughly engrossing historical romance. The author must have done intensive research and it shows throughout the book. The descriptions were so thorough it transported the reader into the story. It had everything a romance reader could wish for: memorable characters, intrigue, and some highly erotic moments. If you love historical romances, this one will fit the bill!
