Thanks to her grandfather, Christine comes into a little money and decides to treat herself and her friends, Katie and Erin, to a cruise. A vacation filled with sun, sand, and maybe if they are lucky the chance to glimpse the stellar bodies of some TWA wrestlers. They are having a good time, when Christine takes a dare and lives out part of her fantasy, the chance to meet the handsome Harley. He is one of the many good-looking men from the TWA on board the ship and she has been a fan of his career and body for years. Things are progressing nicely between them when a vacation outing turns deadly. Now Christine, Harley and their friends find themselves on a trip none of them could have ever planned. If they survive, Christine and Harley are from two different worlds, would they ever have a chance at something more than a shipboard romance?
Christine and Harley are an engaging couple. They each have their own doubts and desires about a relationship between them. They are joined by a cast of supporting characters that add humor and touches of humanity to the storyline. The interactions between Christine and her friends add depth to the emotions that each of them experiences as a result of the cruise and its aftermath. The love scenes between Christine and Harley are hot. Their passion for each other jumps off the pages. Yet the reader is also aware that there is more than passion building between them.
This reader enjoyed Dark Paradise. The vivacity of Christine and her friends takes the reader along for the ride as they embark on a dream vacation. Their antics aboard the ship and afterwards had this reviewer chuckling and rolling her eyes at their audaciousness. Whereas there were moments when I was not ready to leave the current action and go on to the next scene, the overall storyline flows well and keeps the reader engaged. There is humor, passion, excitement and love all rolled into one. Readers will be rewarded with an enjoyable romance when they finish this book. Perhaps if we are lucky we will get to see what happens between Katie and the Bart.
