Warriors of Earth Saga Book I: Dreams of Charni
Jason didn't know if he was going crazy or if someone was trying to tell him something. However, his dreams were filled with images of another world; a dangerous and harsh world completely unlike his own. Each night the dream returns, each moment and action within the dream the same as the night before. As he tries to understand the relevance of the dreams, he comes across a book and amulet that seem to call to him. On a whim he takes them. That night while he sleeps, he finds himself awakening in his dream world with the amulet on his arm. He is drawn into a fight against faceless forces for his very life. When he triumphs, he changes the course of his life forever. For he is no longer in a dream, instead he is on a planet light years away from Earth.
Praespe is a world that is fighting for its very existence. Evil forces conspire to destroy all that stands in their way. Princess Charni fights on the side of good. She is responsible for bringing Jason to Praespe. She hopes that with his help, they will be able to destroy her immoral brother Khuramani and his reprehensible pact with Evil. They have little time and the odds are against them, but to fail in their quest would mean their deaths and the ruin of a once great world.
Alan M. Brooker has crafted a remarkable epic tale in his first book in the Warriors of Earth Saga. With his words he has created a world that is fraught with danger, magic, and a growing evil. The reader can easily visualize the planet and people he has fashioned. The story has moments of cruelty and moments of exceptional kindness and caring. The author has eloquently captured the extreme brutality and sadistic acts perpetuated by Khuramani and his followers. The reader can feel the fear, revulsion, and resolve of the characters as they fight against Khuramani. The character development is indeed outstanding. From Jason and Charmi to Khuramani and the children and slaves in the palace; each character contributes to create a memorable tale of good versus evil. I could not read fast enough in my desire to see who would triumph in this battle. A definite "need to read" if you enjoy epic tales of heroes and heroines.
