Skull Moon

Something was coming under the cover of darkness and killing innocent men. The killings were brutal and frightening in their intensity. The town of Wolf Creek was made even more afraid by the fact that the killings were not stopping. Instead, the bodies kept appearing and it seemed as if whatever was doing the killings had its own agenda.

U.S. Marshall Joseph Longtree was sent to investigate the deaths of five men. All indications pointed towards an animal mauling the men. However, when Longtree arrived in Wolf Creek, he discovered that there were currents of deceit and corruption running through the town. In addition to the original five men, more men had been gruesomely slaughtered. The murdered men may not have been innocent men; instead sins of the past may be catching up to people in the present. Who or what is responsible for the killings? Regardless of the motivation for the murders, Longtree was sent to stop the killings. He must use all his skills as both a lawman and an Native American in order to survive as the death toll rises; for they are not dealing with a man nor are they dealing with an animal, it appears they are dealing with a Blackfeet Indian myth come to life.

Truly frightening! Tim Curran has crafted a terrifying and fear filled story along the lines of an excellent horror novel. The rich descriptions and details in the story are amazing. Tim Curran has created characters and a town that embody the spirit and prejudices of many old Western towns. Yet the similarity ends there. His imaginative addition to the town's history created a chilling and fearsome adversary. The killings are gruesome, vivid, and all the more real for their graphic details. The fear and sense of impending doom of the characters was palpable. I truly enjoyed reading the struggle to contain this evil. This book had me jumping at shadows and leaving the lights on. I definitely would not want to meet this character on a dark night or any night for that matter. This book is not for the faint of heart, but is a definite must read if you enjoy a tale that has both suspense and bone-chilling horror.
