The Bond Unbroken
What would you do if you suddenly found yourself 100+ years in the past; your childhood mentor is now a spirit guide telling you that you have to right a wrong that was done before you were even born? Katlin McKinnen is about to find out.
When a not guilty verdict is returned by the jury for a man Katlin knows is guilty, it's the last straw. She turns in her badge…she's done. Katlin doesn't want to turn into the type of unfeeling cop that her father was. No matter what she did, no matter how hard she tried, it wasn't good enough anyway; not for her father. She'd like to say she didn't blame him, but really she did. Katlin's pregnant mother was killed by a man who was fleeing from none other than her father, in a high-speed chase. Her father lost his will to live and Katlin was left to fend for herself. Only her Uncle Ben won't let her quit. He tells her to take some time off, pull herself together. If she felt the same when she returned, he would fully support her.
Katlin's 'vacation' finds her transported to the year 1871 amidst a shoot out where the odds are many to one. Katlin doesn't understand why, but she is compelled to save the man from the unjust odds. One look into Mitch's eyes and Katlin knew she'd found her soul mate, her other half. Mitch had never met a woman like Katlin before. Together they work to find out who killed Mitch's father. Fate had Katlin being sent back in time to right a wrong, but she did much more than that. The attraction between Mitch and Katlin was immediate and hot. However, they both knew that something deeper was developing. As the case comes to a close, and Katlin's mission in the past complete, she is faced with a choice. Can she give up her life, her time, and the family she is given a second chance with? But then again her heart is in 1871 with Mitch.
The Bond Unbroken was an exceptional romance. Katlin is a formidable character. Her dedication to justice and her willingness to help out, regardless of the era she is in, makes her a character I will remember. I truly enjoyed the moments when she is coming to terms with being in the past. The reaction she has as well as the reactions of the other characters was truly entertaining. However, what was most remarkable was the depth of feeling that was portrayed between Katlin and Mitch. The deep and abiding love that was seen between them was a delight to witness. When Katlin is transported back to the 21st century my heart almost broken until she was given the option of returning to Mitch. Readers will savor her decision. A definite must read!!
