Tru and her kind, are a species all their own. Born and bred to better the universe, knowledge was their power. The 'Majj' were responsible for every major invention for the past many decades. In order to stay in the only home she has ever known, Tru had to prove she was worthy. It doesn't matter that her father was head of the 'Majj' for years; Tru still has to be worthy enough in the eyes of the 'Majj". In order to do this Tru would need to discover something valuable, something beyond greatness. Luckily for her, she had a plan; she just needed a little help.
If there was one thing Rayce could not stand, it was the 'Majj'. He was vexed even more that he had to deal with a blackmailing 'Majj'. Tru needed a guide and Rayce needed money. The spaceport had been his pet project for many years, but his credits were running short. Tru had the nerve to threaten him with slipping that knowledge to his investors. He had no choice really; he had to help her. However that doesn't mean that he has to enjoy it and that doesn't' meant hat he can't make her as miserable as she makes him.
Rayce's nearness provokes emotions in Tru that she was previously unaware of. For the first time in her life she is feeling passion and desire, too bad they are for a man who can't stand her. Rayce decided he'd been too long without a woman. Sure Tru was gorgeous, but she was also 'Majj' and was surely up to something. The sexual tension between them is explosive. Before long they are sharing a bed and neither of them is complaining. These two lovers discover that there are some things even greater than what the "Majj" create. When Tru is injured, Rayce must confront the depth of his emotions for Tru. At the same time, Tru learns that Rayce's loathing of her race is much more than simple dislike. To complete her mission means that she will have to choose between her people and her heart. When Tru makes her decision, Rayce realizes that perhaps he misjudged her. Rayce never meant to hurt Tru; he never even knew that he could. All he can do now is pray that he'll be able to undo it.
Unraveled is an emotionally charged story packed with adventure. In this second book in the series, CJ Barry once again completely captivates her readers. CJ has written her characters with such complexities that readers can't help but be pulled into this story from beginning to end. Rayce and Tru are hilarious in the mockery of each other and heartbreakingly painful in their misunderstanding of one another. Unraveled is a roller coaster ride of mystery and excitement. I for one can't wait for the next book. 5 Angels!
