Maia, the legitimate heiress of the Dragon Lord, has seen many suitors vying for her hand in marriage, but she has seen in her dreams the man she is to marry. Junia, the youngest daughter, has her eyes set for Simon. Although she knows nothing of Simon's family, she knows he will make her happy. After finding out the he was the heir of the de Bohuns, a sworn enemy of her father's descendants, she thinks their marriage will be a way of ending a hundred year old feud. Simon's father only sees it as a means to seek revenge for his family. Lord de Bohun demands an atrocity done to Junia then forces the kidnapping of both her and her brother. Learning the events that have taken place, the Dragon Lord must seek revenge for his daughter and her honor. In seeking justice, he may lose his daughter forever. Can Junia forgive her father for what he must to do to save her honor?
Bertrice Small has once again shown why she is one of the top romance authors. Her stories come alive for her readers. Somehow she takes mere words and creates a breathtaking tale of love, honor and happily ever after. The Dragon Lord or rather Merin Pendragon has a wife and two concubines. Each of the women gives him a beautiful daughter, and each daughter's tale is full of adventure. The Dragon Lord does a great job in creating a family atmosphere for all three girls despite their mothers or their status.
All of the girls have a very unique story. Averil is the first story told and the oldest. Ms. Small creates in her a young woman who takes what she is given and makes the best of it. This may come from the love her mother has showered upon her. Although Averil's mother is Merin's concubine she has always loved him and supported him. Maia's story has some magic and mystery. She must deal with a force not seen to gain her happiness, and of all three she is the one with the most love. After finding and knowing her man she will do what she must to be happy.
Junia's story was this reviewer's favorite. Out of all three she shows the most courage. Ms. Small put together a very emotional story for the youngest daughter of the Dragon Lord. The Dragon Lord's Daughter is a must read for fans of historical romance. Ms. Small received a five angel rating for her gifted talents of creating a story of three sisters and the hardships they must endure to know love and happiness.
