Red As Blood
While looking for her missing sister, Cerise Bordeaux becomes lost in Hellsig woods. She suddenly finds herself face to face with the notorious vampire Lord Daegon Erlansson. Cerise's body immediately reacts to him with both arousal and fear. Though he is physically very handsome and virile, he is reputed to be a bloodthirsty devil.
Cerise soon finds herself waking from a very erotic dream in Daegon's luxurious castle. Although she experiences a great deal of pleasure from his touch, Cerise keeps reminding herself that Daegon is evil, and tries to escape several times. As each of her attempts is thwarted, he "punishes" her by bringing her to the brink of orgasm, only to stop short of completion.
As Cerise learns more about Daegon the man, her fear of him starts to lessen. She realizes that, although he could easily kill her, Daegon is considerate and generous. Confused by her conflicting emotions, Cerise begins to wonder if the stories about Daegon were accurate. She finally realizes that he is not exactly what he seems. He's much more.
Red As Blood is a very enjoyable reading experience. At first, Cerise's repeated escape attempts were annoying, but the scenes that followed were so hot that I began wishing she would hurry up and try to escape again! While Daegon is definitely an alpha male, the way he takes care of Cerise and even his "punishment" shows that he has a tender side.
Morgana de Winter has a talent for writing love scenes. Like an appetizer warms you up for the main course, the sexual tension builds on itself so that the climax is even more satisfying! The reader can also sense the emotions behind the physical attraction, which makes it even more powerful.
Although Red As Blood is a sequel to White As Snow, it stands alone very well. I highly recommend both and look forward to the third Bordeaux sister's story! Ms. de Winter has definitely made a fan of this reviewer.
