Elizabeth's Wolf
While struggling to survive injuries that killed his fellow Special Forces team, Dash is charmed and touched by Cassie, a little girl who starts writing him. Cassie informs Dash Sinclair, she picked him because he had a strong and good name; a name that sounded like he would be a good daddy. Every day a letter was received and read to Dash made him dream of being with this wonderful little girl and her loving mother. Every word written urged him to recover and come to them to taste part of the life he fought to protect since he joined the armed forces. Until the day the letters stopped… and Dash was compelled to find out why.
Elizabeth has struggled to give her little girl, Cassie, every benefit a loving mother could give her child. But they are not an ordinary family. They have been on the run for a long time; hiding, fighting and living furtively in order to survive. Living day to day secretly attempting to maintain a façade so that the crazy drug-dealer who killed Cassie's father doesn't find them and claim Cassie for his perversions. But being one step ahead of the bad guys is getting harder and harder to maintain.
Through out the story this reviewer found the heart-wrenching despair, the joy, the discovery and insight in the good of man kind a drain on my strength, but in an excellent way. I was constantly hurled into anger and rage for the Breed's treatment from the Council. The drama that unfolds between Dash and Elizabeth, in the pages resonates as authentic. The joy of Dash and Elizabeth discovering comfort in each other is inspiring. The relationship Ms. Leigh shows the reader between Elizabeth and her daughter, Cassie is one only a parent can feel. However, Ms. Leigh manages to portray it in its purest form in this story. You feel her anger at the injustice of Cassie growing old before her time and the loss of her childhood. You know a mother's suffering and sacrificing for her child in every page. Umm…and I almost forgot because the emotions were so powerful in this story but the love scenes were so hot, they practically blistered my eyes reading them. The first time between Dash and Elizabeth was sweetly sensual and yet erotic and hot…what a combination.
Her words are soul inspiring and heart felt, which in itself is difficult for any author to portray in a story. However Ms. Leigh does it without breaking a sweat and my overall opinion of this story is for everyone to get it because if you don't you are missing out on a read of massive superiority. It's a keeper folks and you will beat yourself up if you miss it. My soul was touched when I started this book. From the prologue this reviewer cried and continued to cry at the injustice that is portrayed through-out this story. You can taste these events from page one to the last page. This is what a reviewer wishes to read in every book reviewed.
Lora Leigh has written some very powerful stories but this one is particular was special in her dedication to the men and women who serve our country. This reviewer has served in the military and knows the hardships that come with being deployed to another country and it made Ms. Leigh's dedication more personal to this reviewer.
