As if You Never Left Me

Joely Birch sits at her desk looking at the figures on her computer and she knows it is going to be a great day. After leaving New York City fourteen months ago and starting her new business in Colorado, she is already showing a profit. She sits and stares at the graph on her screen, basking in happiness; thinking things couldn't be any better. That is until her employee Perry comes in and tells her there is a gentleman waiting to see her out front.

Joely walks into the shop to see who is waiting for her and she can't believe her eyes. Not only did Joely leave New York City over a year ago, she also left her husband Rey; and now he is back. All of the emotions she once thought buried come rushing back and she fights the urge to touch him. She quickly composes herself and asks him why he is there.

Rey asks Joely if she would have dinner with him to discuss some unfinished business between them. He then hands her the divorce papers she had given him before she left, and she realizes that they have never been filed. Joely agrees to have dinner with him so she can find out what he has to say.

However, when Joely meets with Rey; she is stunned to find out the reason he is there. He tells her he wants a second chance to save their marriage. He wants to be her husband again, for one month,to see if they can salvage what they lost. Will Joely be willing to give Rey a second chance and forgive him for the mistakes he made in the past?

As if You Never Left Me is a romantic and moving tale that will tug at the reader's emotions until the very end. You sense right off that the couple still has deep feelings for each other and sexual sparks fly whenever they are together. Joely has to decide if she is willing to risk another broken heart and when she finds out the real reason Rey is back, you know that their reconciliation will be that much more difficult. Elizabeth Jewell does an outstanding job expressing the love and the turmoil that this couple is experiencing and you find yourself rooting for them with every turn of the page. This story contains love scenes that are full of passion and a there is hint of mystery throughout the story as well. It was a beautiful and tender story that will not leave the reader disappointed. Elizabeth Jewell is a marvelous storyteller and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
