Kelsey Harper grew up around newspaper reporting and she loves nothing more then digging up a great story. Tonight she expects to accomplish just that. While attending a political dinner, who other than the "it" man in politics should appear, Senator Jason Devlin. He is drop-dead gorgeous, a potential candidate for the Presidency, and single to boot. The man is news and Kelsey is determined to get an interview. Taking advantage of the distracted security guard, Kelsey sneaks up to the penthouse floor to await Jason's arrival.
Jason Devlin has shaken too many hands and has smiled at too many people tonight. All he wants to do is escape the crowded ballroom and go for a run. However, knowing that his aide has a woman of their kind waiting for him upstairs, Jason fights off the mass of questions the reporters are throwing at him and he heads for the elevators to escape.
Jason arrives upstairs and sees a beautiful woman sitting in a chair by the window. He is immediately attracted to her and he mentally thanks his aide for picking out this woman for him. However when he gets closer to her, he can scent that she is not of his kind; but the instant attraction he feels for her does not deter him from inviting her into his room.
As soon as they enter Jason's room, Kelsey tries to explain who she is and why she is there. Jason silences her with a kiss and by then it is too late. Kelsey is just as aroused as he and there is no turning back. Kelsey and Jason share an amazing night together and Jason realizes at once that she is the one he wants to mate with for life. However, once Jason shares his secret with Kelsey; can they share a future as well?
Running Mateby Jaci Burton is a short but amazingly erotic tale that sizzles from start to finish. With every turn of the page, I was captivated by the secret Jason was keeping and I could not wait to see Kelsey's reaction when she was told. The only thing wrong with this story was that it was too short. You find yourself totally entranced in the story and the ending comes much faster then you would hope. Although this story was short, Jaci Burton pens a breathtaking tale that is will excite the reader to the very end. Extremely hot sex and an intriguing paranormal storyline makes this Ellora's Cave Quickie a must read.
