Portal
Captain Cea Knight wanted two things in life: freedom and revenge. Freedom because of the years spent in prison for a crime she didn't commit, and revenge against the ones who put her there. Along with her cyborg navigator, Malcolm, she made her living by traveling the galaxies looking for space junk to sell and searching for the two people responsible for the death of her father and her imprisonment. Thief Xander Crowe was the guilty party behind the crimes of which she was accused; Tal English was the agent after Crowe, and the one who pulled the trigger killing her father.
Fate puts her and Tal together once again to defeat Crowe and save the universe from the reign of an evil, greedy killer. Along with a nymphomaniac alien, Penny, the four of them must stop the enemy from discovering the secret to alien technology capable of sending ships across space at speeds unheard of before. Yet, the only way they can defeat Crowe is to use the technology themselves. Cea is willing until she realizes that the secret involves her, Tal, and very steamy sex. Can Cea put aside her hatred to stop Crowe before it's too late?
Portal is a well-written, interesting story that is sure to thrill Sci-fi fans. The only problem this reviewer had with this story was with Cea. She is a strong woman with a definite grudge, which is perfectly understandable with her past traumas. However, she seems so bitter throughout the book, and her change from hating to loving Tal seems too sudden. That aside, the characters are a very interesting group that will keep you entertained throughout the book. This reviewer particularly enjoyed Malcolm and Penny's love affair. They were such different personalities and Penny ended up bringing out Malcolm's hidden human qualities that made him quite the sexy cyborg. Overall, Portal is an extremely erotic read that is recommended for all who love science fiction romance.
