Adazzra, the tree woman, and her sworn sister Moonrazer, the Exalted Warrior, are on a distant planet. When Adazzra makes contact with the tree to which she is bonded, she is alarmed to discover her home planet is under attack. Moonrazer puts out a call for her own kind, the Sarl, a race of female warriors, to help them save the planet, Arwhyrrl. Arwhyrrl is under attack by the Vlaad, a species of bloodthirsty winged blue males led by a vicious lone female Queen.

When one of the Vlaads is found suffering serious injuries by Adazzra, she feels bound to save him because she is a healer with firm religious convictions. As Feodor, the Vlaad heals, she begins to realise, through prophetic signs that her sworn enemy is to be her life partner. This horrifies Moonrazer and the other tree women. Against the opposition, Adazzra believes that her Vlaad, Feodor, must assist them in their Quest to save the planet from the Vlaad and their Queen.

Attack Of The Queen is very well written fantasy. The plot is excellent and well planned. This story is interwoven with very strong religious beliefs; the regular worshipping of Jenico and strong moral beliefs held by many of the characters echo a Christian theme. As the sexual content is restricted to kissing and any description of the Vlaad Queen's parasitic mating is left to the imagination, I would readily recommend this book to teenage readers as well as futuristic/science-fiction fans.
