Prairie Peace
Cecile Palmer runs into Walt Williams and both declare love at first sight. It wasn't proper for them to court so early but neither could deny the love in their hearts. Not too long after their first meeting they are married and together leave Silver City, in the Dakota Plains, for some land he bought, borrowing the money from his Aunt May. Once they arrive the cabin is nothing like she imagined, but the love for her man makes her stronger and able to endure all the work ahead. When Walt leaves for supplies she comes face to face with an Indian. Lone Eagle had been hurt trying to help a stranger out on the plains. Cecile feels this is her husband and begins to mourn her husband's death. The two strangers become friends and when he offers to care for her and her unborn child she follows him to live with his people. By the time Little Cloud is born she has already grown to love her Sioux warrior. Life is great until a stranger comes to the village wearing her late husbands buckle. Walt is alive and while it hurts Lone Eagle, she must go and face him and her parents. She knows where her heart is and in the end she will follow it.
This was so romantic and unexpected. The triangle she finds herself in is really hard because the reader comes to like Lone Eagle and Walt. Bad circumstances happen leaving Cecile confused and wondering whom she should pick. It goes to prove that you can love two men. It is really a page-turner and enjoyable.
