The Mist Rider
Border of England 1314
Lady Rosalyn Carrigston is beside herself with worry. She is being forced to marry Lord Walter Bosworth, a man who possesses bad hygiene and is twenty-five years her senior. Her maidservant Maude assures her it won't happen. Maude's prophecy is that a rider in the mist will save Lady Rosalyn. When Lord Bosworth busts into her room trying to rape her Lady Rosalyn fights back. She is knocked out and wakes to find him dead. Afraid for her life she flees from her home, praying she will reach Inversruthan Abbey. She hopes to find shelter there with the nuns. Along she way she falls and yells out. To her surprise two riders from the mist come to her aid. Lord Rory Kerr from Glendarach in Scotland and his brother Sir Hamish Kerr vow to protect her, until they find out she lied to them. Lord Rory takes her to his home and fights the feelings that this possible murderess gives him. As the days go by he can no longer fight his feelings and when the enemy comes to get her he vows to keep protecting her, for now he knows he's in love.
Fiona Neal is such a wonderful author. Her books are filled with marvelous characters that come to life in the reader's imagination. Lord Rory is an honorable man whose wife dies while giving birth to a stillborn son. He is left with a daughter that he adores and yet he still manages to take care of his own responsibilities. Lady Rosalyn doesn't want to settle for someone she doesn't love. She protects herself and in return is faced with the possibility of murdering a man. When the two meet there are sparks from the start, but can a man who holds so much honor give his heart to a woman who might have murdered?
It's a page-turner and a must read to any romance fan.
