I personally have always found fairy tales kind of sexy, so it seems natural to take that inherent sexiness one step farther. Nancy Madore's Bedtime Stories for Women is one of the best I've read. Included are erotic twists on the well known classics Beauty And The Beast, Bluebeard, Cat And Mouse, East Of The Sun And West Of The Moon, Goldilocks, Snow White, The Empress' New Clothes, The Goose Girl and The Ugly Duckling. My favorites were Beauty and the Beast, Goldilocks and the Three Barons and Snow White in the Woods.
Ms. Madore conveys very erotic sex scenes without taking the short cut that many writers of erotica take by just throwing in a lot of explicit language. It takes more work and talent to make something erotic without it and Ms. Madore does so beautifully.
It's obvious that this collection of short stories was written for women. Like traditional fairy tales and fables, many of these tales have a moral to the story. The Ugly Duckling cautions against putting one's self worth only on physical appearance and Mirror on the Wall comments on modern-day media's perpetuation of an unrealistic and unhealthy standard of beauty. I highly recommend Bedtime Stories for Women to readers looking for a steamy read without offensive language.Reviewed by: Shelley
