Flight of Fancy

Romance Fantasy

Often times when I am looking at a book to purchase, I tend to purchase authors I know and not truly think about what genre or subgenre the book falls into. I think this has been a conscious effort made on my part because I didn't want to alienate any work because of my predisposition (aka my ignorance). That said, coming in to work on the subgenre of Romance Fantasy rather took me. The lines are so blurry (which I love) between all the categories. There might be action-adventure spliced in with paranormal. Or maybe erotica with comedy. I find this blending fascinating and beautiful. It's much like our world today, a fantastic melding of cultures and it makes us a richer place for it.

For this feature, I am trying to focus solely on Romance-Fantasy, but there may be some line slippage.

Angel Gretchen, in this month's update, read and Ammey McKead: Book One in the Azulland Chronicles by Jane Shoup. Gretchen reviewed it with the highest honor of RECOMMEND READ. For the whole review, please visit http://www.fallenangelreviews.com/2006/February/Gretchen-AmmeyMcKeafBookOne.htm.

One of my favorite fantasies is published by the same house Lethal Publishing Corporation. It is entitled Faith Of The Unforgotten Book I The Foundations Of Hope Trilogy by Leathel Grody, ISBN 1597870005. Now, I have to interject here that this book is on sale right now. Truly a bargain. But, I don't know that I'd exactly call this one romance. This is more for the straight fantasy fans.

A favorite author in the fantasy genre, Michelle Pillow, has a new world for readers to enjoy. In her book Realm Immortal: King Of The Unblessed the Otherworld and the Kingdom of Valdis are engrossing and the love story between Merrick and Juliana is captivating. This is another author whose work I had previously considered paranormal or historical, and yet, this falls into fantasy. Well done.

I know that I've suggested this before, but I shall do so again. If you've thought that maybe you weren't really "into" sci-fi, or fantasy, or paranormal, or maybe even contemporary or historical, why not browse through some of the FAR Recommended Reads section and find one that comes highly recommended and give it a shot? It could broaden your horizons and how you a new appreciation.

Tell them Izzy sent you! Happy reading.

Thanks for stopping by!
