However, when she finds a hidden letter in her mother’s things, she discovers not only her mother but also the woman her mother once was.

Alayne Warren’s Life Lessons is a touching, honest portrayal of two women’s hearts. This work encapsulates the intent behind the Six of Swords card and brilliantly shows how making changes is not easy, but that the end result of change can be emotionally and mentally rewarding. As a daughter, I have not given much thought to my mother’s life outside the role of friend and parent. However, this work touches on the individual and how the sum of our lives combines to create who we are. As Carrie’s mother recounts her first love and loss, the heartache evident is realistic and poignant. Carrie’s reaction to her mother’s past and how her mother handled her disappointment will have you applauding both women’s strength. This book is not a romance book in the traditional sense, but it is still full of emotion that will touch hearts. The love and understanding that flows from this book will reward readers with its honesty. 5 Angels.
