Lilith’s heart still carries the loss of her husband. Each year, her heartache becomes harder to bear. This year, Lilith prays to her gods for guidance, for something that will ease the loneliness in her heart. Her gods’ answer, the Sun Warlock.

Gareth, the Sun Warlock, has been trapped in a self-inflicted purgatory. His body has not known the touch of another for longer than he cares to remember. Yet still he is hesitant of a real woman. He calls to his gods to summon a demon that will ease his passion, yet they answer by summoning Lilith.

Do the gods know more than they do? What transpires between them once Lilith has been summoned?

Alayne Warren has created an erotic treat that still manages to focus the attention on the characters’ emotions. Her writing style is distinctive and adds an additional, enjoyable element to the story. The first person telling by both characters allows readers to experience first hand what each character feels. Lilith and Gareth both feel a pain that is palpable to the reader. Anyone who has lost a loved one understands the heartache they live with. Their encounter is passionate, but at the same time brings to light a stirring of deeper emotion. This short story does well to touch on a passion that will stir your senses, while also introducing you to characters that you wouldn’t mind meeting again.
