The Billionaire Takes A Bride

Product of an unconventional upbringing, Ginny Latour tends to take life seriously. She is serious about her work, her values, and her friendships. When Ginny's best friend Sophie asks for her help, of course Ginny is there to give her best. This time helping Sophie requires Ginny to trespass into the home of Sophie's playboy boss, who just happens to live next door to Ginny, and retrieve a lost file from his computer. Sounds simple enough until she is discovered searching the bedroom on her hands and knees by none other than the sexy billionaire himself. Quick, if not rational thinking, leads to a made-up tale of a runaway hamster and to spending the day with the sexy neighbor while hamster searching and getting to know each other.

Billionaire Richard Mallory wakes up to find an intriguing young woman searching his home and telling a not quite believable tale about a missing pet. For the first time he finds himself viewing a woman as something other than arm candy or temporary pleasure to turn to after work is through. As he spends time with Ginny he finds he desperately wants to believe her, that she is not after his priceless computer program and is as decent and honest as she seems to be. Even as he sets a trap to prove her dishonesty he finds what he really should be worrying about is her stealing his heart.

An October 2004 release from the Harlequin Romance line, #3817 The Billionaire Takes A Bride by author Liz Fielding is a light hearted tale of two people finding something they did not even know they were looking for. Ginny is smart, serious and loyal to her friend Sophie even when she feels she should come clean. Richard senses all this in her, that even if she is not being straight with him that she is inherently good and decent and does not have a secret agenda behind her actions. The word play and flirtation between the two as they get to know each other makes for a pleasurable read. Throw in a bit of tension, and a touch of humor and you see a shining example of the reason Harlequin romances have been around for decades and will continue to do so in the future. This reviewer will be looking forward to slightly spoiled best friend Sophie's tale coming soon. A good solid read!
