The Wicked Witch

Born the daughter of a love affair between a witch and a demon, Orayna has been trained from birth to obey her father's bidding. She spends her time gathering souls of sinners for her demonic father to keep in Hell. She ages slowly and has lived for many years committing countless acts of violence and evil. She takes lovers, but always releases them when they get too close or she begins to feel a sort of caring for them. Then she meets Peter. He makes her long for a different sort of life, one of normalcy, without evil and killing. However the obstacles are piled high against her. Orayna fears for the future...Dare she disobey her father's plans? What if Peter learns who and what she is? How can he feel anything but revulsion and fear towards her? Also another desires Orayna and wants her for his own. This would be suitor will stop at nothing to possess, her including merging with evil, and using her lover against her.

The Wicked Witch by author Jennifer Cloud is a dark paranormal with romance as part of the story but it is not the main theme. This tale is filled with scenes of evil beings and demonic doings, which may be hard for sensitive readers. I found it to be fascinating and very imaginative with scorching hot love scenes and down right nail biting suspense. Due to the skillful story telling of Ms. Cloud, I found myself feeling sympathetic toward Orayna, who has committed such horrible acts without remorse. In fact by the story's end I found myself wishing for a happy ending for her even as I feared the worst. The Wicked Witch is a spellbinding tale of the promise of love existing amidst a world that nightmares are made of.
