Queen’s Rules 2: King of the Castle
Ara and her ladies are determined to escape the confines of their castle. They finally manage to escape, but somehow they were betrayed and there were men waiting for them at the exit point. Horrified, she watches as all her ladies are captured, including herself. The worst part of all? She’s been betrayed by a man she thought cared for her, Quinn.
Quinn is desperate. He and his men are dying, and he has to have money for a cure. Women are scarce, and when he finds out that they are leaving the castle, he captures them hoping to sell them. He doesn’t count on falling in love with Ara.
Queens Rules 2: King of the Castle is a great story that will have you glued to the computer screen. The stories with Maryam and Ulrich, Jewel and Mio, Ka, Quinn’s mother Domini and her consort Crispus flow together seamlessly with Ara and Quinn’s story. I enjoyed the interaction between all of the characters; Treva Harte manages to make you like all the couples with the same intensity. I found that there really wasn’t a central set of characters; they all had the same importance attached to them throughout the story. As a matter of fact, I had a hard time picking just one to do the synopsis with. This is the second in a series. I would suggest reading the first one, not only because I think it will be good, but because the storyline was a little hard to follow sometimes because I didn’t read the first book in the series. I still enjoyed King of the Castle; I just think I would have understood some of the nuances of the characters better if I had read Every Good Boy Deserves a Favor, the first in the series. I am looking forward to any sequels, but in particular the one that tells what happens to Ka because he was such an unusual character. Treva Harte is definitely an author I will put on my buy list.
